Martinsville Speedway Set
For Exciting Fall Schedule
Of Racing
MARTINSVILLE, VA (July 7,
2008) - It's the middle of
the summer, but racing fans
are already looking ahead to
Martinsville Speedway's
fantastic fall schedule.
When the NASCAR Sprint Cup
stars visit the historic
half-mile oval on October
19, it will be the
culmination of an
action-filled schedule.
The TUMS QuikPak 500, the
sixth stop in the Chase for
the Sprint Cup, is scheduled
for Sunday, October 19, the
final of four Martinsville
Speedway races this fall.
The Kroger 200 NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series race,
the second Martinsville stop
of the season for the
trucks, is set for Saturday,
October 18. Carilion Clinic
Pole Day is Friday, October
17.
The fall action kicks off at
Martinsville Speedway on
Saturday, September 20 with
the Made In America Whelen
300 NASCAR Whelen Modified
Tour race.
A week later on September
27-28, the track will host
the Bailey's 300, the most
prestigious NASCAR Late
Model Stock car race in the
country.
"We've got a great fall
lineup of racing," said
Martinsville Speedway
president Clay Campbell.
"The TUMS QuikPak 500 is
always one of the key Chase
races and the truck series
points race will be reaching
its peak for the Kroger 200.
The Whelen Modified's are
the most powerful cars
NASCAR sanctions and they
are faster here than the Cup
cars. And the Bailey's 300
is hands' down the most
exciting Late Model race
anywhere."
The Made In America Whelen
300 will make it's first
daytime run this year. The
past three years it was held
on the Saturday night of
Labor Day weekend, but has
been moved to Saturday,
September 20 in the
afternoon. It will be a
one-day show with practice
and time trials before the
race.
Qualifying and practice for
the Bailey's 300 is set for
Saturday, September 27, with
the top 20 positions
determined in qualifying.
The remaining 22 positions
will be filled through four
25-lap heat races beginning
at 12:30 on September 28.
The 200-lap feature will
follow the fourth heat race.
Great seats remain for all
of Martinsville Speedway's
fall events and may be
