MATT KENSETH RACES
THROUGH THE “OFF WEEK”
CONCORD, N.C. (July 15,
2008) - While most NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series drivers
will spend the last off week
of the 2008 season enjoying
some rest and relaxation,
Matt Kenseth, driver of the
No. 17 DEWALT Ford Fusion
will do anything but that.
On Tuesday, July 15,
Kenseth will return to
Wisconsin’s Slinger Super
Speedway for the 29th Annual
Slinger Nationals. He will
be chasing his fourth
Nationals title aboard a Joe
Wood and Jason Schuler
prepared Pathfinder Ford
Fusion. Joe and Jason put
together the potent mount
that propelled Kenseth to
the 2006 Nationals title.
Just two days later on
Thursday, July 17, Kenseth
will participate in the
“BOOTLEGGER’S RUN” RACE OF
CHAMPIONS at Eagle Raceway
near Lincoln, Neb. Top
NASCAR icons including:
Kenseth, Clint Bowyer, Ken
Schrader, and Sterling
Marlin will battle it out
there in two eight-lap late
model races on the fastest
1/3-mile dirt track in the
country — Eagle Raceway.
After racing for two
days, Kenseth will stop off
in his hometown of
Cambridge, Wisc. for the
Ninth Annual Matt Kenseth
Fan Club Party which will be
held at the MKFC
Headquarters on Friday, July
18, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. This
is a private event for fan
club members only and
tickets are now sold out.
Kenseth will wrap up his
off week in Newton, Iowa,
spending Saturday and Sunday
at the Iowa Speedway.
Kenseth, along with Kyle
Busch will compete in the
Rasmussen Group Twin 75s ASA
Super Later Models race on
Sunday evening – the first
race begins at 6:00 p.m.
“It’s funny,” said
Kenseth. “Most guys take
their off week to go to the
beach or to get away from
racing and I’m doing just
the opposite. But, I always
have a lot of fun racing
late models and racing with
no pressure of points or
anything. I’m really looking
forward to this week a lot
and think it’ll be a nice
change of pace for me.”
