NOTES:
· This Week’s Holiday Inn
Chevrolet at Gateway
International Raceway …
Scott Wimmer will pilot
Chassis No. 037 from the
Richard Childress Racing
NASCAR Nationwide Series
stable. Built new in 2005,
Clint Bowyer unveiled this
chassis at Atlanta Motor
Speedway. In 2006, Jeff
Burton drove this chassis to
Victory Lane at Atlanta
Motor Speedway. Also, Burton
raced this Holiday Inn Chevy
to an eighth-place finish at
Texas Motor Speedway in
November. After receiving
all the required 2008
updates, Wimmer raced this
Holiday Inn Chevy to a
sixth-place finish at The
Milwaukee Mile.
· Still in the Hunt …
Based on Burton’s
eighth-place finish last
weekend at Chicagoland
Speedway, RCR’s No. 29 team
maintained the third
position in the NNS owners’
championship point standings
and sits 368 markers out of
the top spot. At the same
time last year, the No. 29
team was 206 points behind
the point leader and, after
the Homestead finale, ended
up 255 points ahead of the
closest competition, proving
that the No. 29 is still in
the hunt to defend the
Nationwide Series owners’
championship.
· St. Louis Stats …
Wimmer has one top-five and
four top-10 finishes in five
starts at Gateway. The
32-year-old driver has a
15.8 starting average
coupled with a 9.4 finishing
average and has completed an
impressive 99.9 percent (999
of 1,000) of laps contested.
· Speed Racer … In 2007,
Wimmer scorched the
1.25-mile egg-shaped Gateway
oval in 33.246 seconds
(135.355 mph), setting a new
track record and capturing
his first-career NNS pole
position.
· Wimmer in the Arch (or
Loop) …
o Law of Averages …
According to NASCAR’s Loop
Data Statistics, the Wausau,
Wis., native has an Average
Running Position of 4.8 at
Gateway. The ARP is derived
from taking the sum of a
driver’s position on each
lap and dividing it by the
number of laps run in each
race.
o Laps in the Top 15 …
Meanwhile, the six-time NNS
winner has spent 96.8
percent (384 of 400) of laps
contested running in the top
15 over the past three races
at Gateway.
o How do you Rate? … He
is third in the Driver
Rating at Gateway (120.3).
The Driver Rating is a
formula that combines the
following categories: wins,
top-15 finishes, average
running position while on
the lead lap, average speed
under green, fastest lap,
most laps led and lead-lap
finishes. The maximum points
a driver can earn in each
race is 150 points. The
Driver Rating number is used
pre-race as a prediction
tool and post-race as a
performance evaluator.
· Ready to Run … Wimmer
has been running at the end
of every race he’s competed
in dating back to Phoenix in
November 2006, a streak of
36 races without a DNF (did
not finish).
· RCR in the Gateway City
… In 16 starts at GIR,
RCR-prepared Nationwide
Series entries have earned
two wins (Kevin Harvick
2000-2001), one pole (Wimmer
2007), five top-five and
nine top-10 finishes with
five different drivers
including Bowyer, Harvick,
Brandon Miller, Johnny
Sauter and Wimmer.
Meanwhile, RCR cars have led
358 laps and earned just shy
of $600,000 in purse money.
· 2008 RCR Nationwide
Report … In 49 Nationwide
Series starts this season,
RCR has claimed two
victories (Bowyer-Bristol
and Wimmer-Nashville), 13
top-five and 34 top-10
finishes with five different
drivers including Bowyer,
Burton, Bobby Labonte,
Stephen Leicht and Wimmer.
Additionally, the three RCR
Nationwide teams (Nos. 2, 21
and 29) have led a total of
446 laps this season.
· Remembering a Hero …
RCR’s Nos. 2 and 29 will
carry a special decal this
weekend in remembrance of
Roger C. Kreutz. Kreutz, the
co-owner of the Holiday Inn
Southwest in St. Louis, was
killed in a tragic accident
on March 5, 2008 while
trying to stop two youths
stealing a tip jar from a
local coffee shop in
Crestwood, Mo. He sustained
life-threatening injuries
after following them to the
parking lot in an attempt to
retrieve the stolen money
and passed away two days
later. Kreutz was 54 years
old and had been in the
hotel business for 36 years.
Donations may be made to the
Roger C. Kreutz Charitable
Foundation, 10709 Watson
Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63127.
· Design the Holiday Inn
Racing Chevy … The Holiday
Inn Family of Brands --
Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn
Express -- will rev up race
fans' creativity with the
launch of its third annual
online "Design a Car"
contest. Through August 22,
2008, consumers can log on
to
http://www.holidayinn.com/designacar
to design a new paint scheme
for RCR’s No. 29 Holiday Inn
Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and
submit their design for
judging. Wimmer and Burton
will select the top-three
designs and then invite the
fans to select the winning
paint scheme. The winning
design will be featured on
Wimmer's car at a NASCAR
Nationwide Series race in
November. The winner of this
year's "Design a Car"
contest will also receive a
trip for two to the race
with V.I.P. treatment that
includes a meeting with
Wimmer.

SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:
Does experience help at
Gateway?
“Experience helps a lot
because we only go to
Gateway once a year and not
a lot of teams test there.
It really isn’t like any
other place that we go to.
Any time you can spend
running there helps. I ran
an ASA race there back in
2000 for the first time and
felt comfortable. Laps
definitely help there
probably more than any other
track.”
What does it take to be
successful at Gateway?
“You have to have a car
that handles well. Both
turns are a little different
so you really have to get it
good in one turn and kind of
live with it in the other.
Qualifying is important,
like at most tracks, but
handling is really a premium
there.”
At the half-way point of
the season, how do you feel
that the Holiday Inn Racing
team has performed?
“I feel good about it but
I don’t think that the
Holiday Inn Racing team has
had the consistency that we
had last year. I think that
we need to get better in
some areas. Some weeks we
have been very competitive
and have had fast cars but
we haven’t been front to
contend for the wins.
Everybody at RCR is working
really hard. Pat Smith and
the guys are doing
everything they can to make
the cars faster. I’m excited
about the second half of the
season and hopefully we can
turn it on.”
