NOTES:
This Week’s BB&T
Chevrolet at Gateway
International Raceway …
Clint Bowyer will pilot
Chassis No. 057 from the
Richard Childress Racing
NASCAR Nationwide Series
stable. Built new in 2006,
Bowyer raced this car twice
that year, at Kentucky (St.
21, Fn. 12) and Michigan
(St. 39, Fn. 12). Last
season, the six-time winner
in NASCAR’s No. 2 division
raced this BB&T Chevy at
Kansas (St. 23, Fn. 4) and
again at Charlotte last fall
(St. 16., Fn. 8). Back on
Board with BB&T … After
showcasing a Camping World
paint scheme last weekend at
Chicagoland Speedway,
Bowyer’s No. 2 Chevy will
return to its traditional
burgundy and gold BB&T
colors for the
Missouri-Illinois Dodge
Dealers 250. St. Louis Stats
… In three Nationwide Series
starts at Gateway, Bowyer
has a runner-up finish to
call a career best to go
along with eighth- and
12th-place finishes. He has
recorded a 13.3 starting
average and a 7.3 finishing
average at the
uniquely-configured
1.25-mile oval. Over those
three starts, the
29-year-old driver has
completed all but one of the
600 laps contested and has
earned just shy of $100,000.
A Look Back At Last Week …
Bowyer finished seventh last
week at Chicagoland Speedway
and recorded his 10th
consecutive top-10 finish
and 17th overall this
season. Despite the strong
showing, the 29-year-old
driver lost 19 points to
second-place Brad Keselowski
after the sophomore driver
finished third behind Denny
Hamlin and eventual winner
Kyle Busch. Bowyer is
currently 183 points ahead
of Keselowski in the race
for the NASCAR Nationwide
Series championship. Bowyer
in the Loop … o Average
Running Position … According
to NASCAR’s Loop Data
Statistics, Bowyer leads the
Average Running Position
category with an 8.239 ARP.
The ARP is derived from
taking the sum of a driver’s
position on each lap and
dividing it by the number of
laps run in each race.
o Laps in the Top 15 …
Meanwhile, the Nationwide
Series point leader has
spent 3,325 of the 3,649
laps completed this season
(91.1 percent) running in
the top 15.
o Driver Rating … Bowyer
also enjoys a 106.7 Driver
Rating – second only to Kyle
Busch (112.5). The Driver
Rating is a formula that
combines the following
categories: wins, top-15
finishes, average running
position while on the lead
lap, average speed under
green, fastest lap, most
laps led and lead-lap
finishes. The maximum a
driver can earn in each race
is 150 points. The Driver
Rating number is used
pre-race as a prediction
tool and post-race as a
performance evaluator.
o Laps Led … Bowyer has
led 340 laps in Nationwide
Series competition this
season and trails only Busch
and two-time Sprint Cup
Series Champion Tony Stewart
in that category.
Remembering a Hero …
RCR’s Nos. 2 and 29 will
carry a special decal this
weekend in remembrance of
Roger C. Kreutz. Kreutz, the
co-owner of the Holiday Inn
Southwest in St. Louis, was
killed in a tragic accident
on March 5, 2008 while
trying to stop two youths
stealing a tip jar from a
local coffee shop in
Crestwood, Mo. He sustained
life-threatening injuries
after following them to the
parking lot in an attempt to
retrieve the stolen money
and passed away two days
later. Kreutz was 54 years
old and had been in the
hotel business for 36 years.
Donations may be made to the
Roger C. Kreutz Charitable
Foundation, 10709 Watson
Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63127.
Here Comes 130 … Saturday’s

Motor Speedway on April 3,
2004 and has since gone on
to earn six wins, six poles,
49 top-five (38 percent) and

eight top-five and 17 top-10
finishes. At the same time,
the Emporia, Kan., native
has logged an impressive 7.5

with his 8.2 finishing

3,623 of the 3,649 laps run
this season (99.28 percent)
and led a total of 341 laps.

CLINT BOWYER QUOTES
Can you capitalize and
pad your points lead since
this is a non-companion
Nationwide/Sprint Cup Series
weekend?
“It’s a good opportunity
without all the Cup regulars
to run up front and,
hopefully, win a race. We’re
leading the points right now
and, hopefully, we can
extend that lead and move
forward.”
St. Louis is typically
pretty hot this time of
year. Do you do anything
different to stay hydrated
at the race track during the
summer months?
“You just have to drink
fluids and stay hydrated -
that’s the key to being
comfortable in the car. If
you’re comfortable, you stay
calm and don’t overexert
yourself. Everything should
be fine. I look forward to
getting there and having
some fun.”
Gateway has a fairly
unique shape. Does the track
present any significant
challenges?
“The straightaways are
really long – one corner is
tight and one corner is big.
I like how both ends are a
little bit different. There
is no perfect set-up. You
have to compromise a little
bit to get the car to turn
down in (turns) one and two
and not turn too much in the
sweeping corner in three and
four. It’s a really fun race
track.”
Are you jealous that a
lot of your fellow racers in
the Sprint Cup Series have
the weekend off and you
don’t?
“A little bit. It’s the
last weekend off and it’s
getting to the point of the
season where it drags on a
little bit and you’re ready
for a break and don’t get
one. Certainly an
off-weekend would be fun.
Sometimes my off-weekends
and vacations are more work
than they are fun. I’m
usually more worn out after
an off weekend than I would
be had I gone to the race
track. Maybe racing every
weekend is a good way to
keep me grounded. But hey, I
put myself in this position
and I’d do it again. I love
racing in the Nationwide
Series. It’s fun and it’s
competitive. There’s a lot
of talent in this series and
I’m glad to be a part of it.
St. Louis isn’t too far from
where I’m from so maybe I’ll
stop in Emporia (Kan.) and
say hi for a couple days.”
