SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:
What does it take to run
well at ORP?
“Keeping the fenders on
is key. ORP is one of the
great short tracks in the
country. It’s similar to
what every driver grew up
racing on, as far as size.
It makes for a great race
and it’s always exciting.
Track position is big there.
You’ve got to be up front
and have a car that is good
enough to stay up front.
Hopefully, the Holiday Inn
Racing team will move
forward from Gateway and
have a strong points night.”
How much does ORP remind
you of what you grew up
racing on?
“ORP is identical to a
lot of the short tracks that
I grew up racing in
Wisconsin and throughout the
Southeast. It’s one of those
places you have to be real
aggressive and have a car
that handles well. You have
a greater control of your
car because you aren’t going
as fast. You get in there
and try as hard as you can
to pass a guy. There are two
grooves of passing. You can
pass on the bottom or top.
It makes for great racing
and there is always a great
fan base in Indy that comes
out to the track. Saturday
under the lights – there’s
nothing better.”
