MARTINSVILLE, VA (August
15, 2008) – Race cars, hot
dogs and the chance to drive
your car on the fabled
Martinsville Speedway and it
gets better…it’s all free.
Martinsville Speedway
will host its Second Annual
Open House on Sunday, August
24 and it should be a race
fan’s delight.
There will be races cars
on display. The world famous
Martinsville Speedway hot
dogs will be free. Fans will
get to drive their personal
vehicles around the
.526-mile oval. And there
will be guided tours of the
entire facility.
The event will run from 1
p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 24.
“It’s a fun day for us as
well as the fans,” said
Martinsville Speedway
president Clay Campbell.
“Fans get an experience they
don’t normally have and we
get to spend time with the
fans. It’s a low-key,
laidback day that every one
will enjoy.”
For most, the highlight
of the open house will be
the opportunity to drive
their personal vehicle
around Martinsville
Speedway’s tight half-mile.
They will be behind one of
Martinsville Speedway’s pace
cars, but obviously not at
race speed.
There will be some pretty
cool race cars and trucks
for fans to get up close and
personal with. One of the
Bobby Hamilton Racing NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series
trucks will be on display
along with the Clarence’s
Steakhouse Late Model Stock
Car driven by Philip Morris.
Also, the Riggs’ Racing
NASCAR Whelen Modified
driven by Andy Seuss will be
at the track, along with
several vintage race cars.
Behind-the-scene tours of
the track will run
continuously from 1 p.m. to
4 p.m. and will include
stops in the press box,
corporate suites, the
flagman’s stand, the infield
and the garage area. And
world-famous Martinsville
Speedway hotdogs and Pepsi
products will be given away
while supplies last.
Martinsville Speedway’s
ticket office will be open
during the open house.
Anyone purchasing tickets to
the TUMS QuikPak 500 at
Martinsville Speedway Race 6
of the Chase for the NASCAR
Sprint Cup during the open
house will be entered in a
drawing to win a pair of
tickets for the Bud Fan Zone
on the morning of the TUMS
QuikPak 500.
