SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES
TRADITIONAL SPRING, FALL
SPRINT CUP RACES
MARTINSVILLE, VA (August 19,
2008) – Martinsville
Speedway officials today
announced the historic
track’s 2009 NASCAR Sprint
Cup Series schedule which
includes the track’s
traditional spring and fall
events.
The Goody’s Cool Orange 500
is scheduled for Sunday,
March 29 and the TUMS
QuikPak 500 NASCAR Sprint
Cup race is set for Sunday,
October 25.
“We think once again we have
a great Sprint Cup schedule
for our fans. The season is
just getting good and
exciting for the spring
event, and of course, in the
fall, our race is again in
the Chase for the Sprint
Cup,” said Martinsville
Speedway president Clay
Campbell. “We think our 2009
dates are about as good as
it gets.”
The Goody’s Cool Orange 500
will be the sixth race of
the 2009 season while the
fall event will be the sixth
stop in the Chase for the
Sprint Cup. And once again,
Martinsville Speedway will
be the only short-track stop
in the Chase.
“Being the only short-track
race in the Chase is a big
deal,” said Campbell. “It
adds a lot of extra
excitement for our fans.”
Again in 2009, both of
Martinsville Speedway’s
Sprint Cup events will be
preceded by a NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series race
on Saturday. And again,
Kroger will be the sponsor
of both of those events. The
Kroger 250 will be held on
Saturday, March 28 and the
Kroger 200 on Saturday,
October 24.
