Clint Bowyer, No. 07 Jack
Daniel's Chevrolet Impala SS
Sharpie 500 Preview
NOTES:
This Week’s Jack Daniel’s
Chevrolet at Bristol Motor
Speedway … Clint Bowyer will
pilot Chassis No. 192 from
the Richard Childress Racing
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
stable. This is the same
Jack Daniel’s Chevy Impala
SS Bowyer wheeled to a
third-place finish in March
at “Thunder Valley.” This
car also saw action on June
1 at Dover but finished 36th
after suspension problems
ultimately cost Bowyer 19
laps. Prior to that, Bowyer
raced the same car at
Darlington in May and
finished 15th. Built new for
2007, this is the same car
Bowyer raced eight times
last season. Mr. Jack’s Crew
unloaded this car in both
races at Bristol last year
(St. 18, Fn. 8 – St. 15, Fn.
3). Chassis No. 192 also saw
action last spring at
Martinsville (St. 21, Fn.
11), Phoenix (St. 12, Fn.
22), Darlington (St. 1, Fn.
9), twice at Dover (St. 15,
Fn. 8 – St. 42, Fn. 12) and
last July at New Hampshire
(St. 20, Fn. 37). In eight
races in 2007, this car
recorded an 18th-place
starting average and a 13.75
average finish. Over that
same span, Bowyer recorded
one pole, one top-five and
four top-10 finishes. Driven
to the Outdoors … In
cooperation with RCR
sponsors Realtree,
Chevrolet, Shell Oil Company
and Motorsports Authentics,
Bowyer’s Jack Daniel’s Chevy
will feature a
camouflaged-based Jack
Daniel’s paint scheme as
part of the first ever Chevy
Driven to the Outdoors
program. In addition to a
full line of NASCAR
camouflage merchandise and
memorabilia, the Chevy
Driven to the Outdoors
program will feature a
unique sweepstakes that will
ultimately reward one fan
with a 2009 Chevy Silverado
LTZ. Other prizes that will
be included in the Chevy
Driven to the Outdoors
Sweepstakes include a racing
trip to Daytona Beach in
February 2009 and a day of
fishing with Captain Rick
Murphy, a hunting trip with
Realtree Outdoors host Bill
Jordan, Shell Gift Cards and
Chase Authentics Chevy
Driven to the Outdoors hats.

… In five Sprint Cup starts
at “Thunder Valley,” Bowyer
boasts three top-10 showings
including back-to-back
third-place finishes in the
last two races. Dating back
to March 26, 2006, the
Emporia, Kan., native has
logged an 18th-place
starting average combined
with a 16.2 average finish.
He has completed 2,420 of
the 2,510 laps run over that
stretch (96.4 percent) and
hasn’t finished worse than
eighth in the last three
races. Tennessee Tradition …
Located just over 300 miles
from Bristol, the Jack
Daniel’s Distillery was
officially registered with
the U.S. government in 1866.
The Jack Daniel Distillery,
Lem Motlow, Proprietor, is
the oldest registered
distillery in the United
States and is on the
National Register of
Historic Places. Jack
Daniel’s is sold in over 135
countries, but every drop is
distilled, matured and
bottled at the Distillery in
Lynchburg, (Pop. 361) Tenn.,
– located in a dry county.
Michigan Minutes … Last
weekend at Michigan, Bowyer
started 41st and finished
20th. He ran as high as 13th
just past the halfway mark
but contact with the turn
two wall cost him 15
positions and he fell back
to 28th. Perseverance and
attrition kept the day from
being a total loss and
Bowyer was able to gouge his
way back to 20th when the
checkered flag waved. He
maintains the 13th spot in
the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
championship point standings
and is now tied with David
Ragan for the first spot
outside the cutoff for the
12-driver Chase for the
Championship. The two-time
Sprint Cup Series winner is
just 26 points behind
12th-place Denny Hamlin, 47
back from Kasey Kahne in
11th and 74 in arrears of
Matt Kenseth in 10th. RCR at
Bristol … In 105 Cup Series
starts at Bristol, RCR
boasts nine wins – seven
with Dale Earnhardt, one
with Kevin Harvick and one
with Jeff Burton– three
poles, 29 top-five and 49
top-10 finishes. In March,
RCR-prepared race cars swept
the top three positions in
the Food City 500 when
Burton drove to Victory
Lane, Harvick finished
second and Bowyer rounded
out the top three.
Additionally, in 41 starts,
RCR Nationwide Series teams
have claimed six wins – one
with Bowyer, four with
Harvick and one with Jeff
Green – four poles, 18
top-five and 22 top -10
finishes. The Collective RCR
… In 23 races this season,
RCR-prepared Sprint Cup
Series entries have notched
two wins (Burton – Bristol,
Bowyer – Richmond), 12
top-five and 30 top-10
finishes. The Welcome,
N.C.,-based race team has
completed 19,139 laps in
2008 with four different
drivers including Bowyer,
Burton, Harvick and Ken
Schrader. Meanwhile, RCR
teams have logged 28,106
miles of competition this
season and been on top of
the leaderboard for 311
laps. Combined, all four RCR
teams have earned just over
$ 9.9 million in purse money
this season. Coming Home …
Mr. Jack’s crew chief, Gil
Martin, is a native of the
Volunteer State. Martin, 47,
is from Nashville,
approximately 290 miles west
of Bristol. Keep on Rolling
… Bowyer has been running at
the end of every race dating
back to Phoenix in November
2006, a streak of 60 races.
The only other driver
running at the end of more
consecutive races is Harvick
who extended his own
modern-era (1972-present)
streak last weekend at
Michigan by finishing his
67th consecutive race
without a DNF (did not
finish). Double the
Experience … Jack Daniel’s
will showcase two Jack
Daniel’s Experience mobile
marketing units this weekend
at Bristol. Bowyer will
appear at the Jack Daniel’s
Experience located on
speedway grounds, in the
display area, outside the
front straightaway,
Saturday, August 23 at 4:30
p.m. to toast Jack Daniel’s
158th birthday. The Jack
Daniel’s Experience is a
53-foot tractor trailer
filled with artifacts,
state-of-the art video
monitors, sound system and
graphics to give race fans a
taste of Lynchburg and the
Distillery. The Experience
also features a full service
bar and will be open on
Friday from 11 a.m. – 8
p.m., and on Saturday from
10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Autographs
may be available on a

CLINT BOWYER QUOTES
You’ve run third the last
two times you’ve raced at
Bristol so you’re right
there.
“We’re getting closer.
I’m a lot more comfortable
and a lot more confident but
anything can happen at
Bristol. You can have a
dominant race car and get
caught up in something very
easily and we’ve seen that
happen time and time again.
I’m looking forward to
getting back there and
seeing what we’ve got.”
Do the cars race
differently under the lights
or is it just the atmosphere
that’s so much more
exciting?
“I think it’s just the
atmosphere. There’s
electricity in the air.
There’s just something about
night-racing that gets you
pumped up and gets you ready
for battle. That’s pretty
much what we do.”
