(65.7%) running in the top

the series’ seventh-best in
the Average Running Position

seven events at the famed
race track, Burton’s ARP is

§ Since We’re Talking
Stats … Burton holds the
seventh-best Driver Rating
at the World’s Fastest
Half-Mile with 94.5. The
Driver Rating is a formula
that combines the following
categories: wins, finishes,
top-15 finishes, average
running position while on
the lead lap, average speed
under green, fastest lap,
most laps led and lead-lap
finishes. The maximum points
a driver can earn in each
race is 150 points. The
Driver Rating number is used
pre-race as a prediction
tool and post-race as a
performance evaluator.
· Racin’ for a Chase Spot

native currently sits fifth
in the championship point

points ahead of the current
margin between his
fifth-place and the

JEFF BURTON QUOTES:
Is Bristol one track you
always dreamt of winning?
“Winning at Bristol is
big. It’s an action packed
race with so much going on.
The way we won the race
earlier in the year, with
making a pass with a couple
laps to go, was really
exciting. It certainly is
the highlight of year so
far. For some reason, we
typically run better in the
fall race than we do in the
spring race. Hopefully, we
can put ourselves in
position to do that again.”
From a driver’s
standpoint, what is the
night race at Bristol like?
“Bristol is a lot of fun
to be quite honest. It’s
stressful when you are
racing for points -- it
makes it tough. On the other
hand, it’s a lot of fun.
It’s very physical and very
competitive. It is an
emotionally draining race as
well as being physically
draining. There is never a
chance to take a break. It’s
challenging and can be very
rewarding but it can also
break your heart pretty
quickly. We always go to
Bristol with high hopes. We
run well in the night races
at Bristol so hopefully we
can capitalize on that.”
