McMurray on racing at
Homestead-Miami Speedway:
“It’s really hard to believe
that we are entering the
final race of the season.
Our No. 26 Crown Royal team
has come a really long way
since the beginning of the
season. We started out the
season with so much bad luck
and had to climb our way
back into it. The last few
months have showed how
strong this team really can
be. Our cars have been
really fast, we’ve had solid
finishes and going into a
few of the races, I thought
we had a solid chance to win
the race. That’s in
incredible feeling each
weekend and gives me and the
team the confidence we need
going into each weekend. I’m
proud of what we have
accomplished this season and
look forward to running well
this weekend and starting
the 2009 season out on a
strong foot.
“The thing about
Homestead-Miami Speedway is
you never really think about
going there until the week
before. It’s not really a
track that you test at, or
worry about. In the past,
the Roush Fenway Ford
Fusions have run really well
there and looking forward to
this Ford Championship
weekend, I think we have
another solid shot. We are
taking a brand new chassis
this weekend. They’ve been
working on this for a couple
of months now. Hopefully,
we’ll unload well and have a
great weekend in our No. 26
Crown Royal Ford Fusion.”
Crew chief Larry Carter
on racing at Homestead-Miami
Speedway: “Our Ford Fusions
have been so strong the last
few weeks, of course we are
looking forward to going to
Homestead this weekend.
Roush has always done a good
job of setting up their cars
for the Homestead race. Our
program has been so great
these last few months that
it’s kind of disappointing
that we are running the last
race of the season. I told
the guys before the Chase
started that I just wanted
us to be as strong and
competitive as possible the
last few races and move
ourselves as high up in the
points as possible. It’s
very gratifying to see that
we have done exactly that.
It should be a great closing
weekend for the No. 26 Crown
Royal team at Homestead.”
