Kevin Harvick won the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Monday afternoon denying Kyle Busch the win with a late race bump and run. Busch led 139 of the 251 laps of the caution plagued event. Ron Hornaday finished in second place behind his team mate and owner Harvick, with Mike Skinner, Johnny Benson and pole sitter Rick Crawford rounding out the top 5.

The rain delayed event (from Saturday) was sparsely attended and that’s too bad because it was an exciting race. Crawford, Hornaday, Busch and Harvick led all but seven of the race laps.  There were 14 caution periods for 80 laps! With all the carnage only 5 trucks were not running at the end of the race.

As the race was winding down Harvick was right on Busch’s rear bumper when contact moved Busch up the track. Harvick went inside for the lead with 10 laps left. A later caution saw Busch make a mistake and try to get some damaged sheet metal off his truck by scraping the inside wall. Doing so had him cross the commitment line for pit road and having not entered pit road he was penalized and restarted in 17th.

Busch still leads the points race in the series but saw his streak of winning at least 1 NASCAR race a weekend this year end on a bad note. After the race ended Busch simply left the track by climbing over the wall.
