A free thinking child of the 60’s, Shell learned the value of a dollar and independence working in the tobacco fields at age eleven. A bit of a tom-boy, she gained a penchant for racing early spending most Sundays with her Daddy stretched out on the floor listening to MRN broadcasts of NASCAR, until cable television was made available in rural Eastern North Carolina. Although Darlington was her maiden track, “The Rock” was considered the hometown track for years and she recently shared the memories and excitement of a first race with her son in their ‘home track’ of Charlotte. Widowed with two teenagers, she has a menagerie of critters including her best friend Dixie a 14 year old sleeve Pekingese; Beau Diddly, a Golden Retriever; Floyd a rescued Shih Tzu; Julius Juking Jake the Panther aka ‘Jukes’ and Darlington ‘the cat too tuff to tame’. Shell has had articles published for Speedway Media and linked to Jayski’s. “NASCAR is still an innovative, exciting sport that gets me excited to this day. I feel that it is essential to respect NASCAR’s history as much as its future and I am looking forward to reaching out to fellow NASCAR fans and sharing perspectives with them through Speedway Media.”
