It took 39 starts, but Brian Scott finally gets to experience the moment he has been longing for since he made his career debut in the truck series in 2007.
Scott, who was able to escape tire problems that plagued many during the race to win his first career race at Dover.
"I watched all those tires blow -- it was kind of scary," Scott said. "But my crew chief [Jeff Hensley] just kept me calm and kept saying that we were getting really good tire wear. Track position at the end -- we played the game perfectly, and I commend him. There were times when I didn't think it was the right call or we were going to be in position, but it all worked out, and now we're in victory lane, baby."
Dennis Setzer finished the race in second in front of David Starr, Jason White and Johnny Sauter who rounded out the top-five.
Kyle Busch continued his streak from the Nationwide Series event completed just minutes before the start of the race, leading a field-most 133 laps in the event with only a ninth place finish to show for it.
Rookie JR Fitzpatrick brought out the first caution of the night on lap three with his troubles on the backstretch. Fitzpatrick was able to finish on the lead lap to finish 11th.
The second caution was brought out for debris on lap eight.
Starr had issues on the backstretch during the 11th lap of the race for the third caution of the night. Starr finished the race third, on the lead lap.
Series points-leader Ron Hornaday Jr. had issues on lap 35 after his right front tire exploded in Turn 3. Hornaday Jr. was unable to finish the race, posting a 26th place finish.
A competition caution was thrown at lap 47 for competitors to check their tire-wear for the fifth caution of the night. The sixth caution was for debris in Turn 4 on lap 78.
James Buescher added himself to the list of drivers with tire problems in the event, cutting down a tire in Turn 4 on lap 102 for the seventh caution of the night. Buescher was able to make repairs and was running at the finish, recording a 24th place finish.
Lap 134 and 144 were home to debris cautions for the eighth and ninth cautions of the night.
The tenth and final caution was on lap 185 when Busch experienced tire trouble in Turn 2. However, Busch hung on for a lead lap finish.
Hornaday Jr. maintained his points lead by 27 points over Mike Skinner.
Notes: Brian Scott is the first driver to win his first series race since Ryan Newman did it in Atlanta last season. … Johnny Sauter was the highest finishing rookie in the event. … The margin of victory was 0.435 seconds. … The race held nine leads with 12 lead changes. There were 10 cautions for 49 laps. … Fourteen drivers in the 36 truck field did not finish the event.
