Michael Waltrip, NAPA, and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation will be teaming up to promote breast cancer awareness throughout the month of October.
NAPA has donated $250,000 to the foundation, stemming from a special promotion on NAPA’s part. For every purchase of $25 or more at NAPA Auto Parts Stores and Napa Auto Care Centers during the month, customers will be given a free NAPA/Susan G. Komen for the Cure travel mug.
“We recognize the devastating effects cancer has on both the mind and body and are excited to actively join the millions fighting for a cure each day,” said Bob Susor, NAPA President. “Our $250,000 donation is made on behalf of everyone affiliated with NAPA, as all of us care deeply for those affected by this debilitating disease."
Waltrip will also participate in raising awareness by wearing pink Susan G. Komen for the Cure hats at the race track this month, as well as promote it on his Facebook and Twitter accounts. On Oct. 17 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Waltrip will drive the No. 55 NAPA/Susan G. Komen for the Cure Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Banking 500.
“I am proud to wear pink to show my support for NAPA and the Susan G. Komen Foundation,” Waltrip said. “My car rarely changes, but for the Charlotte race it’s going to be pink and blue. I hope the special paint scheme and this partnership will help increase awareness to find a cure for breast cancer.”
Approximately 87 percent of donations, like the ones from NAPA, go directly toward Susan G. Komen for the Cure's promise to end breast cancer forever by funding live-saving research and community outreach projects.
