Roswell, Ga. (October 6, 2009) - Darian Grubb, crew chief for the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevy driven by Tony Stewart, has been named the WYPALL Wipers Crew Chief of the Race following Sunday's Price Chopper 400 at Kansas Speedway.
With Stewart running second when the caution flag flew on lap 236, Grubb made a gutsy call on the team's last pit stop for two tires only.
Leader Greg Biffle and the other top-five drivers all took on four tires. Grubb's decision to go with two tires allowed Stewart off pit road first and he held the top spot for the final 30 laps for the victory. As a result, he now sits fourth in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
"Darian made a great call to get two tires at the end and the guys had an awesome stop, that's really what this win all boiled down to," Stewart said of the late-race call for two fresh tires.
"Darian made exactly the right call at exactly the right moment to give Tony the opportunity to win," said Jeff Hammond, WYPALL Wipers spokesperson and SPEED/FOX television analyst.

Despite falling a lap down after a speeding penalty on pit road, Carl Edwards and the No. 99 Aflac team were determined to work their way back into the top 10. Crew chief Bob Osborne made countless changes to the car, fighting to get back on the lead lap and secured a 10th place finish. Todd Berrier, crew chief for Casey Mears and the No. 07 Jack Daniels team, called for a right-side tire pit stop in order to gain track position late in the race and relied on fuel mileage, finishing 15th.
