DID YOU KNOW?

DODGE QUOTES
“I think being able to tell which line is moving. Wathcing your lanes, your spotter helps out a lot. Being able to know which line to be in at the right time and who to be around, who’s pushing you, who are you pushing, getting those bursts of speed and blocking at the right time. I think it’s just a lot of being good in your mirrors and having a good spotter and then having a good engine; that a huge part of it, having a good engine.”
Kasey Kahne (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) on what makes a good restrictor-plate racer.
“I don’t know what driver first called it a high-speed chess match, but that’s a pretty good analogy and I’ve always thought of the competition that way. It’s like you come down to the finish looking to be among the lead pack. Then it comes down to making your strategic moves out there while at the same time anticipating the next moves of all the guys around you. It often gets really hairy out there and you’re forced to really hang it all out on the line. But the way I’ve always looked at it is what we do every race is certainly not for the weak at heart. These races just always seem to bump it up a notch or two on the stress meter – for the drivers, team members and especially the fans."
Kurt Busch, No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger
“We just need to survive. We’ve shown we have a pretty good restrictor plate program. The key is just missing all wrecks. If we can do that, we are fast enough that we will finish well. It’ll be exciting. Talladega always is for the fans.”
Reed Sorenson, No. 43 Liberty Medical Dodge Charger
“We’ve run pretty well at restrictor plate tracks this season. We finished third at Daytona in February and then were pretty decent there in July, then we got caught in a wreck on lap 7 at Talladega. That’s kind of the way this racing goes. If you miss the wrecks you will probably have a good day. If you don’t miss the wreck it doesn't matter how fast you run. Your day will be junk.”
AJ Allmendinger, No. 44 Hunt Brothers Dodge Charger
“Talladega is a great track. I love going there. It is a place where you can run three-and –four-wide all day. The guys on the No. 12 car have really made a lot of gains on our superspeedway program and I am looking forward to this weekend. We had a great car in the summer race at Daytona, but were taken out in a wreck before the finish. I know we have a great car, we just need to keep ourselves in position to fight for the win in the last 10 laps.”
David Stremme, No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger
"There is always a ‘wild card’ element that comes with restrictor-plate racing. You never know what is going to happen out there. You just have to stay alert and focus on driving smart so that you are there when the checkered flag waves.”
Sam Hornish Jr., No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger
