BRAUN RACING EXPANDING IN 2010 TO FIELD FOUR NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES TEAMS
Posted On 11/9/2009 8:29:04 PM

Brian Scott to pilot Braun Racing’s fourth entry next season

MOORESVILLE, NC (November 9, 2009) – Braun Racing announced tonight on SPEED’s “NASCAR Race Hub,” that it will be expanding its already successful organization to field four NASCAR Nationwide Series entries in 2010. Brian Scott, who has driven a select number of races for the team this season, has been named as driver of the team’s fourth Toyota Camry.

A former racer himself, Todd Braun formed Braun Racing in 2002, fielding an entry for Chad Blount in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. After a successful first year as team owner, in which his team captured an impressive four wins and five poles, Braun began slowly expanding his organization. The following season, he fielded an entry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on a limited basis. With a solid foundation in place, Braun decided to run full-time in both series in 2004. That year, Jamie McMurray brought Braun his first NASCAR Nationwide Series victory with a win at North Carolina Speedway and Ryan Hemphill captured six wins (in 13 starts) and six poles in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

Soon, the Winamac, Ind.-native decided to focus his efforts solely in the Nationwide Series and has since continued to grow his organization. Over the last four years, Braun has worked diligently to ensure his team’s success in the Nationwide Series and he has succeeded, as evidenced by the all-star line-up of drivers that have competed for him (Brian Vickers, Kasey Kahne, Jason Leffler, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin, to name a few) and the collection of outstanding sponsors that support his team, including Great Clips, Inc., Dollar General, Beringer Vineyards, AccuDoc Solutions, ABF Freight and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Braun is proud to see how far his race team has come in just a few short years.
“It’s been a great ride, from where we started as a no-name ARCA team in 2002, to where we are today,” said Braun. “It’s been a lot of hard work, but it’s something I am very proud of. Expanding into a four car team is not something I ever fathomed, but I have a great group of hard-working, dedicated people behind me that have helped to make it happen. We also have the support of our outstanding marketing partners and without them, we wouldn’t be here. To say that I am proud of what we have all built together is an understatement. We welcome Brian Scott to the team and we’re looking forward to a very successful year in 2010.”

Scott, a Boise, Idaho-native, cut his teeth racing mini-sprints on dirt tracks throughout Idaho and Washington. After realizing both his talent and passion for racing, he made the decision to relocate to North Carolina in 2006 so that he could focus on pursuing a racing career. He made the switch from dirt to asphalt, racing Super Late Models for a year before spending some time in the USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series, running a limited number of races in each. In 2007, he took a major step in his career as he began competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He is currently finishing up his second year of full-time competition in the series after accumulating one win, nine top-five and 19 top-10 finishes. With one race remaining, he sits sixth in the championship point standings.

The 2009 season also marked Scott’s debut in the Nationwide Series. He made his first start in the series in April at Nashville Superspeedway in Braun Racing’s No. 10 entry. Impressed with his performance, Braun fielded a car for Scott in four additional races throughout the year in order to evaluate his progress. Seeing both his raw talent and dedication, Braun selected Scott to drive his fourth entry in 2010.

“I am really excited to have the opportunity to join forces with Braun Racing next season,” said Scott. “We had some great runs this year, which I think is a solid building block for what we want to accomplish in 2010. Braun Racing is an outstanding organization, with first-rate equipment and an extremely talented crew and staff. As a driver entering his first season of full-time competition in the Nationwide Series, you can’t ask to be in a better situation. Daytona can’t get here fast enough for me!”

Sponsor, car number as well as crew chief and personnel for Braun Racing’s fourth entry will be announced in the coming weeks.
