STARTING UP FRONT: Timothy Peters will tell you in order to finish up front, you must first start there. Over the past three seasons, Peters has an average starting position of 12.26 which has yielded an average finish of 11.77 over the past 70 races.

POLE POSITION: Did you know that of the 14 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, six of the eventual winners started on the pole?

STAY WITH US!: This weekend while in Las Vegas, the Red Horse Racing team will be staying at the Riviera Hotel. The hotel’s logo will be displayed on the bed top of the No. 17 Toyota Tundra and Timothy Peters will be signing autographs at the hotel on Friday, October 14th starting at 7:30 p.m. Please come by to meet the driver of the No. 17 and check out the hotel’s amenities.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will utilize chassis No.093 this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Peters piloted this same truck to a 17th-place finish last weekend at Kentucky Speedway.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Kentucky Speedway, Peters and the No. 17 team had a clutch issue which plagued them throughout the 150-lap event. Peters ran solidly in the top-10 throughout the race until the final pit stop of the evening. The team called for a gas and go stop, but a clutch problem created an issue. The team was unable to get the truck full of fuel and was forced back to pit road. On top of that issue, Peters was also cited for his first pit road speeding penalty in 2011. The team fell two laps down to the leader and finished 17th.

Timothy Peters Talks about Las Vegas Motor Speedway:

What do you enjoy most about Las Vegas?

“I love Las Vegas; the city is so alive and fun to go to. My wife, Sara, and I normally travel a few days early so we have time to take in a show. There is just so much to do while you are in Vegas. I also really enjoy the track in Vegas. Even though we have not had a lot of success this season at the 1.5-mile tracks, I really enjoy Vegas. The track is smooth, but challenging. After our run in Kentucky, I feel really good about the truck and package we are going with. If we can just have everything fall into place, I certainly think we will be a contender for the win. ”

With only five races left until the championship is decided, what are your thoughts on where you and the No. 17 GearWrench team stand?

“Obviously we would like to be a lot closer to the front. It is going to be a long journey for us to leap frog over the front three who have been running so well, but if we can collect a few wins and top-five finishes we are going to be right back in the thick of the hunt. I definitely think it has become a five man race. We are proud to be a part of the battle, but we definitely need to run top-five the last few races to be in contention when we pull into Homestead.”
