RCR to Honor Chevrolet’s 100 Years with a Special Paint Scheme on No. 33 Chevrolet at Talladega
Firesuit worn by Bowyer, car’s hood to be auctioned for ACS’s Breast Cancer program
WELCOME, N.C. (October 18, 2011)- Richard Childress Racing will honor Chevrolet’s 100 years with a special silver-and-black paint scheme on the No. 33 Chevrolet driven by Clint Bowyer in the October 23 Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
The hood from the No. 33 Chevy 100 Years Chevrolet Impala and the race-worn firesuit of driver Clint Bowyer will be auctioned by Chevrolet to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program. The hood will be signed by Richard Childress, RCR’s president and CEO, as well as Bowyer and RCR’s other three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers: Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Paul Menard. Childress and Bowyer will also sign the firesuit.
“Richard Childress Racing has been a key partner with Chevrolet for over 40 years,” said Terry Dolan, Manager, Chevy Racing. “When Richard heard Chevrolet was celebrating our Centennial, he wanted to demonstrate his passion for our partnership. This is a classy tribute and a significant way for RCR to demonstrate its long-term commitment to Chevrolet. Richard Childress Racing has currently earned 99 victories in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series so a victory at Talladega by Clint Bowyer and the No. 33 car, or any of RCR’s four Sprint Cup Series teams, would be icing on the cake.”
RCR has earned 12 NASCAR championships with Chevrolet. Its total of 203 NASCAR victories is comprised of 99 in the Sprint Cup Series, 55 in the Nationwide Series, 24 in the Camping World Truck Series and 25 non-points race victories. RCR and Chevrolet also earned the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship with Childress’ youngest grandson, Ty Dillon, who earned seven victories and 16 top-10 finishes in his rookie season.
“Chevrolet has played a major role with RCR for all these years that it was an easy decision to honor their 100 years this way,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO. “Racing at this level is big business, but the relationships that have been built over the years between RCR and Chevy have been much more like family. I’ve been a Chevy guy since my modified days at Bowman-Gray Stadium back in the 1960s so we couldn’t be prouder to run this special paint scheme to celebrate Chevy’s 100 years.”
