Build Your Future Back with Starr

Last week’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega ended in disappointment for David Starr and the SS Green Light Racing team when the engine in Starr’s Toyota expired just before the halfway point of the event. Coming from the largest track in the series to the smallest this week at Martinsville, Starr is hoping for a change of fortune as the series heads to it‘s final three events of the 2011 season.

Giving additional incentive to the SS Green Light team is the paperclip shaped .536-mile speedway is the site of Starr’s last victory in the NCWTS on April 1, 2006.

“We’re really looking forward to racing at Martinsville, it’s and awesome racetrack and it’s really a fun track to race at,” said Starr. “There is a lot of NASCAR history at that little track and its one of the places I have won at in the truck series.”

For the second straight week, the Build Your Future Campaign will join Zachry on the SS Green Light Racing No. 81 Toyota. Initially developed by NCCER, the Build Your Future Campaign is a national education and recruitment campaign created to increase awareness of the rewarding careers available in the construction industry.

“We’re real excited to have NCCER and the Build Your Future Campaign back on our Zachry Toyota for the second straight week,” Starr said. “I felt really bad with the mechanical issue we had last week. It’s one of those things that’s out of our control when it happens and we are looking forward to redeeming ourselves for the Build Your Future Campaign this weekend.”

In twenty previous NCWTS races at Martinsville, David has an average start of 18.0 and finish of 14.4. He has one victory, three top-fives and nine top-tens in the twenty starts. David has lead 121 laps and has completed 98.4% of the possible laps at Martinsville.

“In order to go fast at Martinsville you need a great handling truck that really rotates in the center of the corner and you need a lot of smoke under the hood because the straights are really long for a half mile track. As a driver you have to take care of your brakes or you can run into problems boiling the fluid.”

Starr is currently thirteenth in the NCWTS standings with just three races remaining on the 2011 schedule.

“We’ve been trying real hard to get back into the top-ten but after some more bad luck with the engine problem at Talladega it pretty much locked us out of the top-ten so we’re not going to worry about the points and go for the win.”

Kroger 200 is the 268th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 288th career start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has four victories, 47 top-fives and 115 top-tens through his 14-year career including two top-fives and eight top-tens so far in 2011.

There are 41 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Kroger 200.

Practice will be Friday, October 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and 2:10 p. m. to 3:20 p. m. Qualifying is Saturday October 29th at 10:40 a.m. and the green flag will fall on the Kroger 200 at 2:00 pm. It will be shown live on SPEED TV. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and also Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. All times Eastern.
