Carl Edwards on racing at Bristol Motor Speedway:

‚ÄúRacing at Bristol is like fighter jets in a gymnasium. The banking is so high, you drive down in the corner and the forces pushing the car into the track seem so much greater than anywhere else we go.¬† The rate at which the car is changing direction is very fast.¬† It always takes me a few laps in the race, 10-15 laps in, to get comfortable with the pace of it because things are happening so quickly there.¬† It is really fun to race there and we hope to get the Cheez-It Ford in victory lane.‚ÄĚ

Crew chief Bob Osborne on racing at Bristol Motor Speedway:

“Bristol is a tough track.¬† It doesn‚Äôt take much to get caught up in someone else‚Äôs accident.¬† We had good runs at both events there last year since we were able to start up front and stay up front. Qualifying is very important at Bristol to start up front and get a good pit stall.¬† We‚Äôre taking a car we ran a few times during the Chase last year which always ran well.”

CARL EDWARDS enters Bristol sixth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, 23 points behind leader Greg Biffle.  He has earned one top-five and two top-10 finishes this season.

FOR THE RECORD… In 15 starts at the 0.533-mile bullring, Edwards has two wins, four top-five, seven top-10 finishes and two poles. His average start is 18.5, and his average finish is 12.3.  Edwards has completed 7343 of 7513 (97.7%) laps attempted at Bristol.

IN THE LOOP… According to NASCAR’s Loop Statistics compiled over the last 15 races at Bristol, Edwards has turned 277 of the track’s fastest laps which is sixth highest, spent 4,874 laps (69.5%) in the top 15 and led a total of 300 laps (eighth most).

ON THE TRACK…The No. 99 will have Cheez-It as the primary sponsor. The crew will unload RK-788 for the weekend. This car first raced at Chicago (fourth place) in September 2011, and then went on to finish third at Dover a few weeks later.

REWIND, BRISTOL, MARCH 2011… After starting from the pole, Edwards raced Kyle Busch for the win in the closing laps but was forced to settle for second place.
