Martisnville Speedway – Kroger 250

HOMETOWN FAVORITE: There isn’t a better feeling than that of your homecoming track. For Timothy Peters this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Martinsville Speedway will be just that. The Danville, Va. resident was victorious in October 2009 and feels confident that the No. 17 NTB/Service Central Toyota Tundra will be able to capitalize once more during the Kroger 250 on Saturday afternoon.

HISTORY LESSON: Peters and teammate John King traveled to Martinsville a week ago, to visit the Virginia Museum of Natural History in an effort to promote this weekend’s events. On behalf of our great partners at Toyota, the duo got a preview of the newest exhibit to the museum, ‘From Rocks to Racing,’ which opened to the public Saturday, March 24. Peters and King built an appetite from the tour and joined several media members for a home-cooked meal at the famed Clarence’s Steak & Seafood House.

BACK AGAIN: TBC Retail Group is back on Red Horse Racing’s No. 17 Toyota Tundra this weekend at Martinsville. The family of automotive retail brands will be displayed once again with their famed red, white and blue Service Central Racing colors with retail brand NTB (National Tire and Battery) as primary sponsor. TBC Retail Group also served as primary sponsor at Daytona International Speedway in February. Look for the group to be back on board for additional races in the 2012 Truck Series schedule.

Fans are encouraged to look for special offers on Facebook and Twitter (@SC_Racing) from all the TBC Retail Group Brands which include: Service Central, Tire Kingdom, National Tire and Battery (NTB), Merchant’s Tire and Auto (Merchant’s) and Big O Tires.

CHASSIS HISTORY: This weekend the No. 17 team will unload Chassis No. 137. This chassis has found its way to victory lane twice in its history, including Martinsville in 2009 and last season at Lucas Oil Raceway. The team also utilized this chassis at both Martinsville events in 2010 collecting a fifth and eighth-place finish respectively. Peters also raced this chassis to a ninth-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last year.

Timothy Peters talks about his home track of Martinsville Speedway:

Do you enjoy racing at Martinsville?

“I grew up on short tracks, so I love coming back to Martinsville. I don’t know what it is, since the day I was in my first late model race here, my driving style has always fit the race track. Definitely having a lot of laps doesn’t hurt, but at any moment you can get caught up in something not of your doing.”

What is it about racing at your home-track? “We really worked hard over the off-season and put a lot of focus on the spring and the fall Martinsville race. You can ask anybody, everybody wants to win at home. I desperately want to do well from starting up front to finishing up front. Hopefully, we learn from what we gained last year and start there this week.”
