I’ve Been Here Before … While Townley has not yet raced at Rockingham Speedway in Camping World Truck Series competition, he has raced there once before. Driving the No. 09 machine for RAB Racing in the ARCA Series, Townley finished 12th in the 2008 Carolina 500.

RAB at Rockingham … In addition to Townley’s 12th-place finish in 2008, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard fielded an entry in the 2009 running of the Carolina 200 for Grant Enfinger, who recorded a 19th-place finish in his first start at the one-mile oval.

Get to the Points … As we head into the third race of the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Camping World Truck Series season, RAB Racing has become a fixture in the owner point standings top-10. RAB Racing currently occupies the tenth position, only 21 points behind the leader, Red Horse Racing.

Home Sweet Home … Robby Benton, owner of RAB Racing, is the only North Carolina native on the No. 09 team. Benton hails from Harrisburg, N.C., located approximately 75 miles from Rockingham Speedway. He graduated from North Mecklenberg High School and attended UNC Charlotte. He began his racing career racing go-carts at Woodleaf Speedway in Salisbury, NC when he was 14 years old. Benton went on to race in the ARCA Series, where he earned one top-five and three top-10 finishes in 11 starts. From there, Benton made a combined seven starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series, before climbing out of the driver’s seat and focusing on team ownership. Benton’s Concord, N.C.-based RAB Racing has earned one win, two top-five and 13 top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and one top-five finish in just two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races.

Chris Rice Quotes:

“It’s been years since we’ve been to Rockingham Speedway and I’m so excited to be back. It’s a rough, tough track and we are going to wear our tires out quickly. You’re not really racing other competitors here, you’re racing the racetrack. John Wes did great at Martinsville and we’re looking forward to hitting the high banks of Rockingham.”
