Sam Hornish Jr. (No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger R/T) Finished 13th “Compared to what we had yesterday I think that it was an OK day.  I thought that we were making the car better all day.  We didn’t have the track position that we needed but we were moving forward on the field when I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I had two guys getting lapped get together right in front of me and slid into my front end.  It took a pretty good gash out of the right-front quarter and forced us to pit road taking away all of my track position.  The guys on this Wurth Dodge Challenger did a great job getting us back out and only losing a lap to the leader.  It was a bummer because our car was starting to respond to the changes that Chad (Walter, crew chief) and the guys were making.  We never got ourselves on the lead lap again and had to settle for a 13th-place finish.”

TO ONLY GO ONE LAP DOWN AFTER THE EARLY CONTACT WAS THE KEY TO SAVING WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A HORRIBLE DAY!  “There were incredible.  It was one of those days.  I’m just driving around and the next thing you know two guys are spinning right in front of me and I’m heading to pit road.  The crew guys did a great job to get us back on track and only a lap down.  It could have been a lot worse.”

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE INCIDENT WITH DANICA?  “It was just a matter of three cars trying to fit into a really tight spot.  From my vantage point, when you get down in the corner, I’m looking to see where her car was.  I couldn’t see it and tell there was someone outside of her.  I feel like she could have given me more room.  I think she gave me some, not enough.”

Chad Walter (crew chief, No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger) “It was a good day, but a frustrating day at the same time.  I felt like we had a top-10 car all day until we got collected in somebody’s mishap in front of us.  I’m proud of Sam (Hornish).  He drove his guts out all day and almost pulled off an incredible top-10 run.  It’s never easy when you hurt your car on a short-track, but give credit to all the guys on this Wurth Dodge Challenger for keeping their minds on the game and getting the car back out there.  Big picture, it’s a decent points day for us.  We just haven’t been able to pull together a full race yet.  We’re so close.”

Parker Kligerman (No. 22 Snap-on Dodge Challenger R/T) Finished 12th “It was an OK day for the No. 22 Snap-on Dodge.  We were great in practice and race day was completely different conditions.  We didn’t qualify like we needed to and that hurt us a bit.  We had a good plan for the racecar but the track went a completely different way than we thought.  It loosened up way more than we thought.  It got looser and looser all day and we just couldn’t get ahead of it.  Jeremy (Bullins, crew chief) and the guys never gave up.  We raced to a 12th-place finish but really think that we had a top-10 car.”

WAS IT A MATTER OF THE TRACK RUBBERING IN AND JUST MAKING IT REALLY LOOSE?  “Yeah, that’s the only thing that we can think of.  In practice, we didn’t think that was going to happen and assumed that with the sun coming out and the track getting some heat in it that it would actually tighten up.  It just got looser and looser and we could never catch up to it.”
