No. 30 Drink B Chevrolet News and Notes

This Week’s Silverado…Last week’s winning team will be bringing Turner Motorsports chassis TMS-211 to this week’s Bristol Motor Speedway Volunteer 200. Chassis TMS-211 was used earlier this year at both Iowa Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.

Spin and Win…After qualifying second and being one of the dominant trucks this past weekend at Michigan International Speedway (MIS), Piquet Jr. went on to claim his first career win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). When Piquet Jr. went for a spin while racing hard for the lead on lap 56, the No. 30 team was forced to gamble with pit strategy. He became the first Brazilian to ever win in the NCWTS, and the second born outside of the United States.

Double Duty…Piquet Jr. will be competing in both the NCWTS and the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events this week at Bristol Motor Speedway. The 27-year-old Brazilian will be coming off wins in both series, as he dominated his last race in NNS at Road America, claiming the pole, track record and the win. Bristol is a favorite track of Piquet Jr. as he captured his first stock-car win there earlier this season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race.

“Drink B”…Turner Motorsports welcomes “B” to the No. 30 Chevrolet Silverado for Wednesday night’s Volunteer 200. “B” is a premium cachaça (rum) mixed with honey and lime. The sweet mixture, combined with a lower alcoholic volume of 21% makes it easy to enjoy. “B” was founded by Piquet Jr. in his home country of Brazil and will be available in the United States in 2013.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Bristol Motor Speedway –

“Last weekend in Michigan was a dream come true for me. I couldn’t be more proud of my team, and I’m hoping to get them another win this Wednesday night. I really enjoy racing at Bristol Motor Speedway, it’s a driver’s track, it’s very short, and very challenging. Bristol is also my crew chief Chris Carrier’s home track, so I’m hoping we can get him to victory lane. Two wins in a row would be amazing.”

No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet News and Notes

Bristol Bound…James Buescher and the No. 31 team head to Bristol Motor Speedway for Wednesday’s Volunteer 200 after a quick turnaround from Saturday’s race at Michigan International Speedway. Buescher goes into the Wednesday-night race with three previous NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) starts at the 0.533-mile track, an average start of 9.7 and an average finish of 16.7.

Start Positive, Stay Positive…Buescher and the No.31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet team will sport the blue and black colors of Exide Batteries in Wednesday’s event at Bristol Motor Speedway. Exide Technologies, with operations in more than 80 countries, is one of the world’s largest producers and recyclers of lead-acid batteries. The company’s four global business groups — Transportation Americas, Transportation Europe and Rest of World, Industrial Energy Americas and Industrial Energy Europe and Rest of World — provide a comprehensive range of stored electrical energy products and services for industrial and transportation applications.

This Week’s Silverado…The No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-011 at Bristol Motor Speedway this week. TMS-011 has not gotten any track time in 2012, but has served as backup truck for several events this year.

Last Race Recap…Buescher scored his seventh top-five finish of 2012 at Michigan International Speedway, leading five laps and maintaining the third position in the NCWTS driver point standings, just six points outside of the lead. A combination of stellar handling and fuel strategy gave Buescher and the No. 31 Wolf Pack Rentals team the edge needed to finish fifth in the VFW 200.

Watch LIVE…The Volunteer 200 can be seen live on Wednesday, August 22nd on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Buescher on returning to Bristol Motor Speedway –

“I’m a big fan of Bristol Motor Speedway since the reconfiguration because it’s led to so much more side-by-side racing. It’s a tough track where things can happen fast, and I’ve experienced that firsthand, but I had a really good race the last time I was there and I’m hoping to improve on that fourth-place finish. You’ve got to be ready for anything and keep your nose clean in order to get a solid finish. The points battle is really heating up, and now that we’re only six points behind first, there’s a very real possibility that we could leave Bristol with the lead.”

No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Chevrolet News and Notes

Two Years Ago…Just four days after the wave of the checkered flag at Michigan International Speedway, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will take the green at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS), the site of Miguel Paludo’s first race in one of NASCAR’s top-three series. Paludo made his NCWTS debut at the 0.533-mile bullring in 2010, earning an impressive ninth-place finish. In his 41-career starts in the series, Paludo has accrued three top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes, as well as one pole.

One Year Ago…Last year in Bristol, Paludo had something to celebrate before the engines were even fired for the 200-lap race: He and wife Patricia welcomed their first child, Oliver, just two days prior to the event. One year later, the Wednesday-night race falls on Oliver’s birthday, and the team will celebrate with a special tribute on the No. 32 Brakes and Components Chevrolet. The truck’s bed will feature an image of Paludo’s son and a happy birthday message, as well as the one-year-old’s name above the right-side door

This Week’s Silverado…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will unload chassis TMS-205 for this week’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway. TMS-205 last hit the track at Dover International Speedway in June where Paludo finished 12th in a rain-shortened race.

Diabetes Fact of the Week…Looking for a way you can support the Paludo family in their fight against diabetes? Frontstretch.com writer and NCWTS supporter Beth Lunkenheimer is participating in the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Lunkenheimer has chosen to walk for Paludo and his son Oliver, and has set a goal of raising $1,000 for the ADA. If you wish to find out more or make a donation, please visit: http://stepout.diabetes.org then click the Donate button and search for Beth Lunkenheimer under participants.

Previous Race Recap…Paludo earned his second top-10 finish of 2012 at Michigan International Speedway in his debut pairing with new crew chief Jeff Hensley. Paludo ran in the top-five for most of the second half of the 100-lap event before varying pit strategy resulted in a 10th-place finish in the VFW 200.

Miguel Paludo on driving at Bristol Motor Speedway –

“Bristol is a very special track to me for many reasons. It is the place where I made my very first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start in 2010, which was the beginning of a whole new career path for me in NASCAR’s top-three series and a new adventure in my life. It was also the first race I competed in after the birth of my son Oliver in 2011. Having Oliver in our lives has been an amazing journey for my wife Patricia and I, both in terms of being parents and experiencing that whole other level of love, as well as what his diagnosis with diabetes has meant to us and our focus. I’m really looking forward to celebrating his first birthday on race day, and I hope that Bristol will become an even more special place by becoming the place where I get my first win.”
