Save the Tata’s…

Hornaday will once again team up with Chevrolet on Friday morning for their “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign. The effort focuses on promoting and supporting numerous events to build awareness. To kick off the event, Hornaday will give breast cancer survivors the thrill of a ride around the track in specially-themed Camaro SS pink pace cars. In conjunction with the Advocare 500 on Sunday, Chevrolet will contribute $200 to MSABC for every lap that the Chevrolet pace car leads the field under caution. Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 270 communities to fund the fight. Flashback… Hornaday captured the Good Sam Club 200 victory at AMS last fall in the No. 33 Kevin Harvick, Inc Armour Chevrolet after qualifying 17th for the 100-lap event. The victory marked Hornaday’s second series win at the track after a triumph in the spring of 2005 World Financial Group 200.

This Week’s No.9 Joe Denette Motorsports Chevrolet… The No. 9 AMFM-Energy/Anderson’s Maple Syrup team will unload chassis No. 5 for this weekend’s NCWTS event at AMS. This is the same Joe Denette Motorsports chassis that Hornaday piloted to a 12th-place finish at Rockingham Speedway in April.

Get to the Point…

Following a solid 8th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway, Hornaday is up one position to eighth in the 2012 NCWTS driver point standings heading into this weekend’s Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 200, just 44 points out of fifth and 75 points behind leader, Timothy Peters.

A Penny For Your Thoughts-Ron Hornaday… “I was fortunate enough to win at Atlanta last year on fuel mileage, but it doesn’t really matter how you win them, right? Atlanta is a fast track that I enjoy racing at. The track allows for a lot of passing and good racing. I think tire maintenance will be a challenge and I wouldn’t count out fuel mileage being a big player on Friday night either.”

Hornaday’s NCWTS Stats:

Starts: 313 Top-5: 148 Top-10: 214 Poles: 27 Wins: 51 Laps Led: 9553 Average Start: 8.4 Average Finish: 9.4 Laps Completed: 50,428
