No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet News and Notes
Third time’s the charm at Kentucky… Cale Gale will make his third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at Kentucky Speedway this weekend. In their last visit to the 1.5-mile track, Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team had a fast Chevrolet and a strong run going, but a late-race accident resulted in a 25th-place finish for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender. Gale raced inside the top 15 throughout the opening 100 laps and the Rheem team utilized every opportunity they had to refine the setup of their truck. With the Rheem Chevrolet handling well and headed for the top 10, Gale was involved in an on-track incident on lap 109 when another competitor got loose in the inside groove and drifted up the track making contact with Gale’s Rheem Chevrolet. The No. 33 machine suffered moderate damage and the Rheem team made several pit stops throughout the final 40 laps to make additional repairs and adjustments. With the dedication and hard work of his team, Gale was able to continue in the event and cross the finish line in the 25th position.
Career-best NCWTS finish tied at Iowa… Gale’s fifth-place finish at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night tied his career-best NCWTS finish. Gale rolled off sixth in the American Ethanol 200 and averaged an 8.135-running position. With excellent pit strategy, Gale moved into the top five during the final laps and raced as high as the second position. The finish was Gale’s second top-five result in the 2012 season and tied his career-best finish (fifth) recorded at Dover (Del.) International Speedway this past June.
Meet Cale Gale… Gale will participate in the NCWTS autograph session on Friday afternoon at Kentucky Speedway. Fans are invited to the concourse area at 3 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon to meet Gale and his Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) teammates Justin Lofton and Max Gresham, as well as the rest of the stars from the truck series for autographs and photos.
Battling for Points… With just seven races remaining in the 2012 NCWTS season, Gale is currently ranked inside the top 15 of both the championship driver and owner point standings. Gale, who has scored four top-10 finishes this season, is ranked 13th in driver points and 15th in owner points. Currently second in the Rookie of the Year points, Gale is chasing down leader Ty Dillon.

From the Driver’s Seat
Cale Gale Quotes… On racing in Kentucky: “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Kentucky this weekend. We had a really strong truck there earlier this summer and I think we’ll have another good run. We were disappointed with our finish in June after running so well all weekend; the Rheem team is definitely looking for redemption this trip.”
On building momentum with the Rheem team: “I feel like our Rheem team has really improved this season. It took some time for me to get accustomed to the truck and familiar with the team, but I feel like we’ve made good strides. The nice thing about this part of the season is that we have two stretches of back-to-back races, which helps us build momentum. We had a good run at Iowa last week, and we hope to back that up again this weekend in Kentucky. Over the next few weeks, we have more races coming up on tracks where I’m really comfortable racing. I’m looking forward to finishing out the season strong in the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet.”
From the Pit Box
Jerry Baxter Quotes… On getting ready to race at Kentucky Speedway: “We’re taking chassis No. 045 to Kentucky Speedway this weekend for the Rheem team. It’s the same chassis that we raced in Iowa earlier this season, but it has a brand new body. We went to the wind tunnel the other week and it seemed to do really well. The Rheem team had a strong truck at Kentucky when we were there a couple months ago, and I believe we learned a lot that will transfer over to this weekend’s race. We’re looking forward to it.”
