Question Marks for Chastain, SS Green Light Team

MOORESVILLE, NC – September 20, 2012 – Rookie Ross Chastain and the SS Green Light Racing team has had a very impressive first two-thirds of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 2012 season. The teen from Alva, FL has shown maturity both on and off the racetrack well beyond his age of nineteen while the team has made the most of the resources available to them including three top-ten finishes and an impressive third place run last month at Bristol.

The SS Green Light Racing team has run with the support of the National Watermelon Promotions Board along with various State Watermelon Associations and Melon 1, the largest distributor of Watermelon on the East coast so far this season but with sixteen of the twenty-two races complete Chastain and the team find themselves in an unenviable position of pulling together additional resources to continue to run competitively for the rest of the year.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Ross and the team for the job they have done so far this season, we just need a little more help to get through to Homestead in November,” team owner Bobby Dotter said. “We are doing everything we can to keep Ross in a competitive truck for the rest of the season to hopefully move up further in the points standings but we are coming up short for the rest of the year.”

“We have commitments from the Watermelon industry for three of the remaining seven races,” Dotter continued. “They have been great partners for Ross and our team all year; it has been very enjoyable working with them and we look forward to the upcoming races we have together. They have upheld our original agreement and we believe we have given back an incredible value with all exposure that Ross and the team has received; most notably the amount of on-screen time and mentions during the SPEED TV broadcasts each week.”

“We run a lean organization and that has allowed us to get as far as we have this year. It’s how we have survived for over eleven years in the Truck Series. Our guys work as hard as anyone in the garage and everyone wears multiple hats to make things happen. We don’t need the large complicated deals to make our partnerships work and give a return on investment.”

Ross’ smile and driving talents have caught the eye of SPEED TV commentator Michael Waltrip who recently did a feature on Ross of how watermelon are grown, harvested and distributed which was shown during the pre-race prior to the Michigan race last month. “We have been trying to put together some extended programs with our partners at the Watermelon Promotions Board and Melon 1,” Chastain commented. “There could be some fun and creative co-op programs with the 22 million watermelon that are distributed each year that could be quite lucrative to the right organization. It takes time to find and make these deals work out but we are in need of some additional support sooner than later because time is running short this season.”

“We are interested in both partners for Ross and for funded drivers for our second truck at select races yet this season,” Dotter concluded. “Right now both the No. 07 and No. 08 trucks are locked into the top twenty-five in owner points so we have guaranteed starting positions for both trucks.”

Please contact Bobby Dotter at (704) 664-0808 if you are interested in partnering with SS Green Light Racing over the remainder of the 2012 NCWTS season.

The Kentucky 201 is the 286th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the twenty-first career start for Chastain in the Truck Series. Ross is fifteenth in the NCWTS point standings and has three top-ten finishes in 2012 including a career best third at Bristol on August 22nd.
