Alpinestars Produces Breast Cancer Awareness Paint Scheme for Nelson Piquet Jr. with Claw Money

Mooresville, N.C. (September 24, 2012) – Nelson Piquet Jr., driver of Turner Motorsports’ No. 30 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), will carry a unique Breast Cancer Awareness paint scheme on October 6th as he takes on the rest of the NCWTS drivers at Talladega Superspeedway.

The unique collaborative effort between Alpinestars and famed New York-based female graffiti artist Claw Money will emblazon Piquet Jr.’s truck with bold pink graphics referencing breast cancer awareness and Claw’s eponymousmark. Designed by Claudia Gold, AKA Claw Money, the paint scheme is a fusion of art, motorsports and charity designed to heighten awareness for breast cancer research and the quest for a cure. A custom Alpinestars race suit that will also feature elements of the pink claw design and Claw Money’s interpretation of the pink ribbon will accompany the truck paint scheme.

Additionally, a special edition t-shirt and a limited run of 1:24 scale diecast models of the unique race truck will be available for auction online through eBay Giving Works with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In the week following the October 6th race, a series of online charity auctions will go live. The auctions will include diecast model trucks and t-shirts autographed by Claw Money and Piquet Jr. The centerpiece of the auction will be the actual hood of the No. 30 truck, straight from Talladega, also signed by Claw Money and Piquet Jr.

“I’m both excited and thrilled to have been asked to participate in this project, especially considering the ultimate objective of breast cancer awareness and the fundraising aspect,” said Claw Money of the collaboration.

“I am always looking for new ways to apply my art and spread my message in a new context or medium, so this project was a win/win. Seeing my work executed in a racing context and speeding around the Talladega Superspeedway… I can’t wait. Nelson is such a unique driver in NASCAR and Alpinestars has such an amazing legacy in racing. We’re all ideal partners. It’s been great and I look forward to seeing what kind of contributions we can bring to the fight against breast cancer,” she said.

“It’s definitely a different approach to awareness, but I think fans will love it,” said Piquet Jr. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with Alpinestars and Claw Money, especially considering we are raising awareness for breast cancer. I’m also excited about the fact that fans can play a role by participating in our auction of the truck hood of and the other items, with all proceeds going to charity. Everyone involved has been so motivated by the cause, so hopefully it will pay off and we can make a trip to victory lane in this special truck.”

Alpinestars regularly collaborates with artists and designers to fuse motorsports and art. This collaboration is part of a long lineage of graphic explorations and artistic endeavors pursued by Alpinestars with the help of talented creators. This particular project is especially significant due to its philanthropic nature.

Nelson Piquet Jr.’s No. 30 Chevy Silverado will carry the Alpinestars/Claw Money Breast Cancer Awareness paint scheme as it challenges the NCWTS field on Saturday October 6th at the Talladega Superspeedway. The truck’s hood, diecast model trucks and t-shirts will be available for auction shortly following the race through eBay Giving Works, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
