Join Kasey Kahne on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame to run or walk the streets of gorgeous downtown Charlotte on a crisp fall day! For more information visit www.kaseykahnefoundation.org

Who’s on the pit box?… Trent Owens, who has led James Buescher and Nelson Piquet Jr. to NNS victories this season, serves as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team with drivers Kahne and Brad Sweet. A former driver himself, Owens is a long-time fixture in the NASCAR garage. Over the years, the Darlington, S.C., native has been successful working with a variety of drivers with different levels of experience and has visited victory lane with both rookies and veterans alike including Buescher, Piquet. Jr., Mark Martin, Dave Blaney and Reed Sorenson.

This Week’s Impala… The No. 38 team will unload chassis TMS-329 this weekend at DIS. This is the same chassis in which Kahne captured the pole at the inaugural NNS race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Additionally, Kahne piloted this chassis earlier this month at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he started fourth and worked his way up to second, but was victim of a flat tire in the late stages of the race, followed by contact with another competitor which ended his night early.

Kahne and Sweet: a unique combination… Not only are Kahne and Sweet good friends off the track, but the veteran is serving as mentor to Sweet as he makes the transition from open-wheel competition to stock cars. Sweet was handpicked by Kahne in 2008 to drive for Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) where he has since experienced tremendous success in the World of Outlaws Series. Sweet will continue to compete on a limited basis for KKR when he is not behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips machine in the NNS. You can expect Kahne to be very involved and present in the NNS garage when Sweet is behind the wheel of the No. 38 as he will closely monitor his progress and offer encouragement.

Kahne brought Great Clips their first win! From 2003-2005, Kahne and his sponsor, Great Clips, Inc., reached momentous milestones, including capturing Kahne’s first Nationwide Series victory in 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was also Great Clips’ first win as a primary sponsor. In 2005, Kahne captured his second career win at Texas Motor Speedway before leaving the Nationwide Series to allow more time for his Sprint Cup Series efforts.

Great Clips goes racing with the World of Outlaws in 2012! Great Clips will serve as sponsor for KKR driver Joey Saldana for the 2012 World of Outlaws season. The Minneapolis-based company has been a sponsor of KKR for the past two seasons. This year, they will be featured on all three KKR entries – as a primary sponsor on the #9 with Saldana as well as associate sponsor placement on Brad Sweet’s #49 and Cody Darrah’s #5 World of Outlaws cars.

12 Years and Counting… Great Clips, Inc. is currently the longest-running sponsor in the NNS and has used the Nationwide Series as their primary marketing platform for the last 11 years. Their sponsorship began in 2000 with Akins Motorsports as they climbed on board to sponsor the team’s No. 38 entry with driver, Christian Elder. Mark Green piloted the No. 38 for one season before general manager, Doug Stringer, hired up-and-coming talent, Kasey Kahne, thereby solidifying Great Clips’ commitment to their NASCAR sponsorship.

Kahne on racing at Dover International Speedway

“The key is having a car that can still handle well 30-40 laps into a run and staying out of trouble. Dover is an easy place to get in trouble. It’s definitely one of the more mentally and physically demanding tracks that we go to. I’m looking forward to another race with the Great Clips team this weekend. I can see that the addition of Trent Owens (crew chief) is having a positive impact on performance and I’m hopeful that we can get Great Clips, and partner EA SPORTS®,into victory lane very soon – hopefully this Saturday at Dover.”

No. 30 Allegiant Travel Company Chevrolet News and Notes

Alex Bowman returns to the seat of Turner Motorsports’ No. 30 Chevrolet at Dover International Speedway…

Previous Experience for Bowman at Dover… Bowman has some laps under his belt at the one-mile track known as “The Monster Mile.” In last year’s K &N Pro Series East, the Tucson, Ariz.-native started from the ninth spot and worked his way up to third before an engine issue cut his day short.

This week’s Impala… The No. 30 team will unload chassis TMS-321 this weekend at Dover International Speedway. This chassis last saw track time at Texas and Las Vegas where Turner Motorsports Teammate Kasey Kahne finished 10th (led for 40 laps) and 3rd, respectively.

Who’s on the Pit Box? Bowman will have the opportunity to work with veteran crew chief, Mike Hillman, Jr. this weekend at Dover. Hillman Jr. recently took over as crew chief for the No. 30 Turner Motorsports team which has featured a myriad of drivers over the course of this year. He is an accomplished crew chief in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) since 2005, having called the shots in 186 races and earning 19 wins, 81 top-five finishes, 108 top-10 finishes, eight poles and two championships (2006 and 2010, both with Todd Bodine).

Bowman on this weekend’s NNS race at Dover

“I can’t wait to get out on the track at Dover. Racing in the Nationwide Series these last couple of weeks has been very exciting for me. I’m happy to team up with Turner Motorsports again in the No. 30 Allegiant Travel Company Chevrolet. Justin Allgaier always runs well there and, no doubt, having Kasey Kahne as a teammate will be an added advantage for me. As far as goals for the weekend – I think a top-10 is easily reachable and I would be pretty happy with that for just my third series start.”

About Allegiant Travel Company… Allegiant, travel is our deal.® Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Company® (NASDAQ: ALGT) is focused on linking travelers in small cities to world-class leisure destinations. Through its subsidiary, Allegiant Air, the company operates a low-cost, high-efficiency, all-jet passenger airline, and offers other travel-related products such as hotel rooms, rental cars, and attraction tickets through its website, allegiant.com. No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet News and Notes

Weekend Rewind: Kentucky II – Justin Allgaier and the BRANDT team overcame handling and a near overheating issue on Saturday afternoon in Kentucky to bring home another top-10 finish. After water and oil temperatures reached near catastrophic levels near the midpoint of the Kentucky 300, Allgaier had to vacate his seventh-place running position to come to the attention of his crew to remove grass that had built up on the grill. The team bounced back and finished eighth on the day, for Allgaier’s 17th top-10 finish of the season.

Allgaier at Dover International Speedway – Allgaier has made seven starts at the ‘Monster Mile’, scoring one top-five and four top-10 finishes. His highest finish of fifth came earlier this spring after starting seventh. The BRANDT driver has an average starting position of 15.4 and an average finish of 14.9 at Dover.

Northeastern Supply at Dover – As is the custom for the Dover races, Northeastern Supply will have a more prominent presence on the No. 31 Chevy, adorning the rear quarter panels of the bright red BRANDT car. The Baltimore, Maryland-based company will also have numerous employees at the track in support of their driver. Northeastern Supply is a leading, regional distributor of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, HVAC, water systems and hardware products.

Mile Track Stats – In the past 10 races at tracks measuring a mile in length, Allgaier is ranked second among fulltime NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers with 708 points scored. In those 10 races, he has scored one top-five and six top-10 finishes, with an average starting spot of 10.7 and an average finish of 12.2.

This Week’s Impala – This weekend, Allgaier will drive TMS-322 in the OneMain Financial 300 at the ‘Monster Mile’. This car was also raced at the first Dover race (fifth), as well as Las Vegas Motor Speedway (eighth), Darlington Raceway (13th), and the fall race at Bristol Motor Speedway (30th).

Allgaier on tackling the Monster Mile:

“We had a good race at Dover in the spring and I’m hopeful we can come back and improve on the finish. Dover is a really neat race track. It’s really fast and it’s amazing the feeling you get as a driver sailing off into turns one and two. My guys have continued to bring me awesome race cars every week and I really want to hold up my end of the deal and bring home a finish they all deserve. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be in victory lane getting one of those monster trophies? I’m ready, these guys are ready and BRANDT is ready to do that for sure.”
