Kevin Harvick and the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet team travel to the newly repaved Kansas Speedway this week for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400. In addition to the regular weekend schedule, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) teams will spend Wednesday and Thursday testing at Kansas.

Heading to the Hall… NASCAR Hall of Fame attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a special fan Q&A session with Harvick on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at approximately 4:25 p.m. ET. Tickets to the NASCAR Hall of Fame can be purchased by calling 877-231-2010 or at www.NASCARHall.com.

Media availability… Prior to participating in the fan Q&A at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Harvick will be available to members of the media on the NASCAR video teleconference at 3:50 p.m. ET. NASCAR.com will carry a live stream of the teleconference. Participant information and satellite coordinates are available at www.nascarmedia.com.

Honoring a Fallen Solider… The No. 29 Budweiser team will wear a special memorial bracelet in honor of fallen soldier Army Specialist Chris Horton this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Horton, a sniper in the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Oklahoma National Guard, was killed during a tour of duty in Afghanistan on Sept. 9, 2011. His wife Jane shares his killed-in-action bracelet with others to remind people of her late husband and all of the soldiers who have lost their lives while serving our country.

Heading Home… The trip to Kansas Speedway will take Aaron Schields, rear tire carrier on the No. 29 Budweiser team, back to his home state. The 31-year-old, Goodland, Kan., native moved to North Carolina in 2005 to work in NASCAR. He joined the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) team in August 2009.

Chassis Info… The No. 29 team will utilize chassis No. 378 from the RCR stable this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Harvick raced this car to top-10 finishes at Kansas in April (sixth), Michigan International Speedway in June (10th) and Atlanta Motor Speedway in September (fifth).

Harvick at Kansas… In 13 starts at Kansas Speedway, Harvick has earned one top five and six top-10 finishes. He’s led 83 laps at the 1.5-mile track and completed 96.8 percent of the laps run in NSCS competition there (3,309 of 3,419 laps). Harvick’s average starting spot at Kansas is 20.7 and his average finish is 13.0.

Last Time Around… Harvick has earned back-to-back sixth-place finishes at Kansas Speedway. Last fall he started 14th and struggled with the handling of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet before the team made wholesale changes on their final pit stop and he worked his way up to sixth before the checkered flag waved. In April, he started the race from the second position and fell back to 26th when his car ran out of fuel at lap 86. Despite the setback, the team rallied to earn a sixth-place finish.

Q&A with Harvick… Kansas Speedway race fans will have the opportunity to join Harvick for a fan Q&A session at The Finish Line Fan Hospitality area on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. CT. Fans can purchase tickets for The Finish Line Hospitality by calling the Kansas Speedway ticket office at (866) 460-7223 or logging onto www.kansasspeedway.com.

Furthering Education… On Monday, Oct. 15, Harvick presented Nick Heilmann, student wrestler at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with the inaugural UNC Kevin Harvick Foundation Athletic Scholarship. The scholarship presentation marked the first stage of the foundation’s three-year commitment for an annual, full-ride scholarship to UNC for one need-based student athlete.

Happy’s Birthday Bash… Harvick will celebrate his birthday a week early this year with the Budweiser Presents Happy’s Birthday Bash at The Fox Theater on Saturday, December 1, in his hometown – Bakersfield, Calif. Country music star Craig Morgan headlines the charity event that will benefit the Kevin Harvick Foundation and Bridgette Tatum will make a special guest appearance. Harvick talks about racing on the new surface at Kansas Speedway:

What are your thoughts going into the weekend at Kansas Speedway considering the track has been repaved since the spring race? “I’m not a big fan of repaving anywhere, to be honest, and I enjoyed racing on the old surface at Kansas. However, I understand they had some issues with the track that made (repaving) necessary, so obviously it’s what they had to do. Paul (Menard) and the No. 27 team went out there for the Goodyear test in August, so we have some data to go off of entering the weekend that should help us. The guys that took part in the test had good things to say about the track, so we’ll see what we’ve got to work with when we get there on Wednesday.”
