NASCAR Driver Kyle Busch Swings from the Trees with Richmond International Raceway

High-Flying Heroics are a Prelude to His Race in Richmond on April 27

Richmond, VA (April 10, 2013)—NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch is no stranger to practically flying around a race track in his #18 M&M’s Toyota Camry. But today, Busch and Richmond International Raceway President Dennis Bickmeier came a little closer to actually flying. Busch and Bickmeier took to the treetops at Go Ape in Rockville, MD – braving obstacles, zip lines and a Tarzan swing.

Busch, who has won the last four Spring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Richmond International Raceway, will only have to wait a couple weeks to transition from flying among the trees to piloting his race car at RIR for the April 27, Toyota Owners 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

During the treetop adventure at Go Ape, Kyle swung from a rope like Tarzan, zip lined through the forest and rode a skateboard in the air through the canopy.

“It was fun to do something different and get out to ride some ropes, enjoy the outdoors and do something that isn’t your typical experience,” said Busch. “I loved the Tarzan swing. You hook up to the rope, fall off a platform and drop right off. It takes your stomach away from you for a second, but it’s fun.”

Following his acrobatics, Busch visited a local restaurant for a public question and answer session, followed by a few autographs for some lucky race fans.

Come April 25, 26 & 27, Busch will be back at Richmond International Raceway for a different kind of fun.

“I love Richmond,” said Busch. “Richmond is one of my favorite race tracks and one of my best race tracks. I love being able to go there. I’ve put on a lot of good races there – I’ve won four in a row at the spring races and I’d love to make it five. It’s an excitement track and a lot of action happens under the lights.”
