KEEP ON TRUCKIN’: For the third consecutive week, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will put on some of the best racing on the circuit. Red Horse Racing will take over Kansas Speedway for the series first visit to a 1.5-mile venue this season. This will be the second visit for John Wes Townley to the D-shaped oval in his Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra. The driver collected a 16th-place finish last spring in the 167-lap event and is anxious to showcase his talent during the SFP 250.

In addition to his Truck Series stats, Townley has two ARCA Racing series starts at the track and was found leading the ARCA Racing series race last season after his third place qualifying attempt.

NEW AT ZAXBY’S: Zaxby’s, a southeast favorite for chicken fingers and wings, has been indescribably good for more than 20 years. The Athens, Georgia based chain offers its guests prepared-at-order Chicken Fingerz, Traditional or Boneless Wings, sandwiches, Zalads and Zappetizers, along with a variety of nine sauces ranging from Wimpy and Tongue Torch to Nuclear and Insane. Capturing the essence of a southern classic, guests can now enjoy Zaxby’s new Banana Pudding Milkshake for a limited time. It’s just the treat to complement Zaxby’s House Zalad, a popular menu item with mansion-sized flavor. The company operates more than 570 locations in 13 states. John Wes Townley will compete with Zaxby’s serving as primary sponsor for the entire 22 Truck Series race schedule. CHASSIS HISTORY: Chassis No. 085 will battle this weekend at Kansas with John Wes Townley and his No. 7 Zaxby’s Tundra team. Chassis 085 saw action at four tracks in 2012 including Chicagoland Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway. During the off season, the chassis was rebuilt to prepare for 2013.

REARVIEW MIRROR – ROCKINGHAM: John Wes Townley and his No.7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra earned the top finishing position for the Red Horse Racing stable. The young driver started the 200-lap race from the 26th position and raced a free Tundra for most of the race. With some great coaching by crew chief, Mike Beam and Spotter Chris Lambert, Townley was able to fight his way to the front and collect an 11th place finish.

The 11th place finish is the highest finish this season for the team and Townley’s third highest Truck Series finish, which bodes well for constant improvement over the rest of the year.

John Wes Townley talks about Kansas Speedway:

This is the first 1.5-mile track of the season. How do you feel going to Kansas?

“I love the 1.5-mile track program. These are the type of tracks that I’ve worked up to from racing late models. Racing on the 1.5-mile tracks makes you feel like you’ve finally made it to the big leagues. Especially at a place like Kansas. With the recent repave it’s going to be really fast. I love when a track gets repaved and you can go full throttle.

After three races, how do you feel about your season so far with Red Horse Racing?

“I feel great. We are coming into Kansas with some momentum from our 11th place finish at Rockingham. I feel proud of that finish but am eager for more. Looking forward to Kansas to see what we can do with our Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra.”
Timothy Peters
No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra

Starts: 5 Top Five: 1 Top-10: 1
Avg. Start: 10.4 Avg. Finish: 16.4

Chassis: 010

OFF TO THE MIDWEST: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will take its first trip to a Midwestern state for the fourth race of the season at Kansas Speedway. Timothy Peters and his Red Horse Racing team made great strides during the 2012 season on their 1.5-mile track program. But there is still one trophy missing from the trophy case – an intermediate track win.

This weekend, Peters and his No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra team will utilize the notes they gained from 2012 and the research and development during the off season in hopes to secure the top podium spot.

PROUD PARTNER – PARTS PLUS: Timothy Peters No. 17 Toyota Tundra will once again proudly represent the Parts Plus brand featuring the orange and red color paint scheme at Kansas Speedway. The primary sponsorship has been activated throughout the first three races of the season and president of the Automotive Distribution Network, Mike Lambert is thrilled for the opportunity.

“Mainstream exposure like this to one of the most enthusiastic fan bases in racing is a tremendous opportunity for the brand, further enhancing the professional image of our Parts Plus members, auto stores and Car Care Centers nationwide.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: Timothy Peters and his No. 17 Toyota Tundra team will break in brand new Red Horse Racing chassis No. 010 this weekend at Kansas. The newly constructed chassis just rolled out of the body shop with specialized craftsmanship for the team’s 1.5-mile program.

REARVIEW MIRROR – ROCKINGHAM: Timothy Peters and the No. 17  Parts Plus Toyota Tundra started today’s race in the 20th position but was prepared to work his way back to the lead by doing what he does best – working through the pack and making a move toward the end.  Peters fought both tight and loose conditions depending on the line he chose around the race track. Crew chief Butch Hylton and the No. 17 Parts Plus team were battling the worn out surface at The Rock to get Peters Tundra to the front of the field. Just as Peters was making a move catching those in the top-10 an accident occurred ending his day with a 26th place finish.

Timothy Peters talks about Kansas Speedway:

The organization worked really hard on the 1.5-mile package last season with great gains. What are you still looking to achieve this season?

“A win. That’s it. We’ve worked harder as an organization starting from the top with Tom DeLoach, Terry Cook, and Butch (Hylton, crew chief) all the way back to the fab shop. This season we know we will really benefit from having Mike Beam and Dan Stillman on board because they are really knowledgeable. We are still looking for that win but I am confident that we will find it this season.

A win at a 1.5-mile track is the only type that eludes Red Horse Racing. What will it take to win at Kansas?

“We’ve shown that we are capable of a win on 1.5.-mile tracks. It’s important for me as the Parts Plus Toyota Tundra driver to get information back to Butch. We know we’ve worked hard on bodies and chassis, but it’s all about balance. Some places we had it and some we haven’t. But it sure wasn’t from lack of effort. It’s a combination of lots of little things that will make us better in the end.”
Germán Quiroga
No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra

-No Previous Starts-
Chassis: 008

NOT A FIRST FOR QUIROGA: Germán Quiroga will have a series of ‘firsts’ during his 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year season. Though this will be the three time NASCAR Mexico Series champion’s debut at the 1.5-mile track of Kansas Speedway, it is not his first 1.5-mile event. The driver of the No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra is eager to improve his highest finish on an intermediate track and hopes to achieve the feat during the SFP250 this weekend at Kansas Speedway.

In eight Truck Series races three of those were on a 1.5-mile track, with two races competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway and an additional start at Texas Motor Speedway. The Red Horse Racing driver collected a top-15 finish in 2012 at the season finale race in Homestead.

NET10 WIRELESS® AT KANSAS: As the Truck Series enters their third consecutive week of competition, NET10 Wireless will return as primary sponsor for German Quiroga and his No. 77 Toyota Tundra team this weekend at Kansas. The no contract cell phone leader will continue to its support as primary or associate sponsor for the remainder of the season. For more information on NET10 Wireless, visit www.NET10Wireless.com.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra will utilize Chassis No. 008 this weekend at Kansas. Chassis 008 was brand new for the 2012 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. There, the chassis earned Red Horse Racing’s 10th pole position and took home a seventh-place finish.

REARVIEW MIRROR – ROCKINGHAM: German Quiroga entered Rockingham Speedway with the mind set of ‘race the race track’ and to exercise patience over the long 200-lap event. After qualifying in the 23rd position, Quiroga, was looking for speed early in his No. 77 Net10 Wireless Toyota Tundra racing the high groove where all the grip could be found.  Unfortunately, he was battling a loose truck for the majority of the race while minimizing tire wear.  With the race having an element of instruction in it for the Rookie of the Year contender, Quiroga gained knowledge as a driver and collected four positions finishing 19th.

Germán Quiroga talks about Kansas Speedway:

What have you been able to learn in your previous 1.5-mile races?

“I’ve learned a lot about aero and track position and how important it is at those types of tracks. There are also a lot of adjustments that the team can make to help the driver. You really have to work with your crew chief to tell him what you are feeling and what your Toyota Tundra needs. As a driver there isn’t much you can gain in speed if your Tundra is not dialed in correctly. I’m really looking forward to being in great equipment at a 1.5-mile track and see what my true potential is.

This is the most consecutive truck series races you’ve run, how will this benefit you?
“I’ve been learning a lot. The first time I was in a truck, it was another year before I got back into the truck. Now that it’s consistent, I have momentum and I feel like that’s in itself is an advantage. As much as we have learned in these three races, I feel like it will pay off for the next 19.”
