Larson in Victory Lane: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (EGR) development driver, Kyle Larson, won his first national series NASCAR race last weekend at Rockingham Speedway.  Larson, driving the No. 30 Turner Scott Chevrolet, became the first graduate of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program to win at the sanctioning body’s national level.

Did you Know?:  It would take 47,520 McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets (averaging two inches) to circle the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway.  You would have to place 7,920 six-piece orders to get that many McNuggets

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR KANSAS SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonalds Team

Bell Strong in Texas:  The Bell Helicopter team was fast right from the onset of the weekend, posting fast practice speeds and an 11th-place qualifying result on Friday afternoon.  McMurray showed that he had a car to contend for a strong finish in the early stages of Saturday night’s 334-lap race, driving into the top-five by the 100-lap mark.  The strong run would be hindered following a pit road penalty on lap 129 for pitting outside the pit box.  McMurray would battle back to a 16th-place lead-lap finish.

McMurray at Kansas: McMurray has 12 starts at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway where he has earned two top-10 finishes and has led 26 laps.  McMurray has an average starting position of 20.8 and an average finishing position of 19.8.  His best start of fourth came in October 2009, while his best finish of seventh came in October 2004.  In his most recent race at Kansas Speedway, he started 21st and finished 15th in October 2012.

Grab a Bite: Stop by the McDonald’s restaurant located at 18910 US Highway 40, Independence, MO 64055 this Thursday, April 18, for an appearance with Jamie McMurray.  In addition to McMurray stopping by at 2pm to sign autographs and meet fans, the No. 1 McDonald’s Chevy SS show car will be on location from 11am-6pm and the actual 53 foot race team transporter, pulled by the International® Lone Star® truck, will be on display from 2-4pm for fans to view.

Sign up:  Jamie McMurray will join other NASCAR drivers, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski for an autograph session at Kansas Speedway on Friday, April 19 from 5:30-6:15pm.  Fans can win wristbands by visiting The Sprint Experience on Friday. Miss Sprint Cup and the team there will be giving them away as game prizes periodically throughout the day.

Golden Arches: There’s no reason to go hungry while visiting Kansas Speedway this week.  McDonald’s has five locations conveniently located within 10 miles of the track.  Locations can be found at: 10555 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS; 7350 State Ave., Kansas City, KS; 16210 W 65th St., Shawnee, KS; 606 S 130th, Bonner Springs, KS; 22315 W 66th St., Shawnee, KS.

Texas Rewind: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series held their first night race of the 2013 season in the “Lone Star State” over the weekend. The seventh race of the season produced 18 lead changes among seven drivers and seven caution flags for 36 laps. Team Target garnered a top-10 starting position and overcame multiple obstacle’s throughout the 334-lap race to finish out the night in the 20th-position.

Montoya in Kansas: Teams will make their third appearance at a mile-and-a-half track this season at Kansas Speedway. Montoya has eight NSCS starts at Kansas where he has completed 2079 out of 2084 possible laps (99.8%). His stats include: one top-five and one top-10 finish along with an average starting position of 22.9 and an average finishing position of 18.6.
