Gold Bond and Cole Whitt Link-Up for Subway Firecracker 250

Daytona Beach, FL (July 4, 2013) – As if having the No. 1 faucet brand sponsor your race car isn’t spectacular enough; Cole Whitt and TriStar Motorsports welcome Gold Bond to the team. Gold Bond is one of the top selling medicated powder brands in America and will now serve as Whitt’s primary sponsor for the No. 44 Toyota Camry during Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway.  Gold Bond is a brand known for being powerful, hard-working and trusted since its inception in 1908.  Whitt will parade the infamous Blue, Red and Gold logo on his Gold Bond Camry as he takes to Florida’s fastest track for the 12th Annual Subway Firecracker 250.

“I am thrilled to have a historic sponsor like Gold Bond at such a celebrated track like Daytona. Their slogan: powerful, hard-working and trusted can really relate to my team,” said Whitt. “Gold Bond is a staple brand in medicated powders and I assure you we will be strong in tomorrow night’s race.”

Whitt will make his fourth start at Daytona for the Subway Firecracker 250; his best finish came last year when he placed fourth.  Tune in Friday night to the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on ESPN at 7 p.m. EST to catch Whitt and the No. 44 Moen Toyota Camry race the high banks of NASCAR’s most iconic track.

About Gold Bond:

Gold Bond’s heritage dates all the way back to 1908, when the original Gold Bond Medicated Powder was first introduced to consumers in the New England region. Right from the start, the unique powder enjoyed strong customer loyalty and a dedicated following that grew largely by word-of-mouth. In 1990, Gold Bond was purchased by Martin Himmel Inc. who began developing the regional brand on a national level. During the early 90s, Himmel introduced the first Gold Bond line extensions – Gold Bond Medicated Baby Powder, Extra Strength Gold Bond Medicated Powder and Gold Bond Medicated Anti-Itch Cream. In 1996, Gold Bond was acquired by Chattem, Inc., who has continued steadily building it into the market leading therapeutic skin care brand we know today. Now in its second century of healing, Gold Bond currently offers a broad line of products, including some of the fastest growing hand and body lotions, as well as the top selling medicated body powder, foot powder, foot cream, and foot pain cream in America. www.goldbond.com

About TriStar Motorsports:

TriStar Motorsports was established in 1989 by Mark and Kathy Smith. In its early years, the team competed in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, where the team won the Coors Light Pole for the 1994 Daytona 500 with Loy Allen Jr. – the first rookie in the history of NASCAR to set the pace for the historic race.  After accumulating 151 starts in the Winston Cup Series, Smith withdrew from team ownership to focus on building engines for the NASCAR industry. Now, Smith’s company – Pro Motor Engines – is the leading independent builder of race engines for all three of NASCAR’s top-tier divisions and other series like ARCA and the SCCA.  Smith was eager to return to team ownership and the opportunity came along in 2010 when he re-launched his TriStar Motorsports team and began fielding cars in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.www.tristarmotorsportsnc.com
