TEAM QUOTES:

Driver can make a difference: “I really do enjoy New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but there was a time where I disliked it because I was trying to figure it out,” Allmendinger said. “It is a tough place to get around because it is so flat and a little bit bumpy.  However, in 2008 or 2009, I kind of figured out how to drive around the place and now I really enjoy racing there a lot. I feel like it is one of those types of tracks that the driver can make a difference around. We will still need a good Kingsford® Chevrolet SS that rolls the center and it will still need forward drive. It makes it fun racing when you have it all.”

Kicking off the second-half of the season: “The only frustration you may face at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is if you get in the back of the pack because it’s so hard to maneuver around,” Allmendinger said. “When you have a good car around there, it’s really good. I feel like our short track program has been probably our best so far this year out of all the racetracks. I look forward to getting there and hopefully, kicking off the second-half of the season successfully. I like the fact that we are going back to these places a second time pretty soon. When we do, we will have a better notebook and have better runs.”

Got a grip: “Our short track program is pretty strong and we’re bringing a car that’s had some good short track finishes,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We feel like we have a nice grasp on our short track program and it seems we always excel in that area. At New Hampshire Motor Speedway, it’s a place where you can take chances to gain track position for an opportunity to have a great finish and that’s something we like.”

Kingsford returns: “We have Kingsford Charcoal on our No. 47 Chevrolet SS this weekend and it’s such a great brand, I grill with it all the time,” Allmendinger said. “We really want to outperform for Kingsford this weekend. They were on the car at Sonoma Raceway and we didn’t get the finishing result we wanted for them. Maybe, they will bring us some good luck on Sunday and we can deliver the finish they deserve.”

Bring on some good luck: “We’ve had a car capable of winning and a car capable of a top-10 finish recently and I guess you can say bad luck took us out of contention, but the team morale is really high even though the results have not shown how well we are running,” Burns said. “We keep getting better and better. Things are going in the right direction. We just need some good luck for things to pay off.”

Win or lose: “Honestly, to a certain degree, I feel like it’s us against the world,” Allmendinger said. “We’ve come together as a small race team to take on the big giants of this sport and we work hard together. We will win and lose together on and off the racetrack. We have a lot of fun. I know everybody is working hard and our results have not shown our efforts these past few weeks. Each person knows it and each person in their segment are working as hard as they can. We have to try to beat the big dogs each week. It’s just a lot of fun to be around the guys. I hope they know I generally care about them. It all starts with our leadership when it comes to Tad and Jodi (Geschickter) and Brad (Daugherty). That energy feeds down for all of us. It’s a fun group. We have a great time. We all know what our goals are. We know we want to win together. We know it’s going to be a lot of hard work. Eventually, we will get there.”

Everyone plays a big part:  “This team is a small team and everybody has such a big hand in making this team where we want it to go,” Allmendinger said. “I really enjoy being around the group of guys on and off the racetracks whether we are out goofing around playing golf or just back at the shop. Everybody is working hard and you can see it. I think I put more pressure on myself because I want to go out there and perform at my best for them. The good thing is that everybody is on the same page. There is no lack of trying. They see that in me too.  I’m not going out there and laying down on them.”

Great energy at New Hampshire: “I think New Hampshire is a pretty area,” Allmendinger said. “I actually like driving around there just in general. At the track, there’s always a good atmosphere and a good crowd. You always get a lot of fans that are really into the race and bring good energy. I like that.”
