Buescher Leads Roush Fenway With Seventh-Place Finish At Kentucky

SPARTA, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2014) – Roush Fenway Racing rookie Chris Buescher scored his 11th top-10 finish of the season in Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Kentucky Motor Speedway. It was Buescher’s second career NASCAR start at Kentucky and it marked his fourth top-10 finish in the last six races.

“We learned a lot from our last run at Kentucky and we were able to apply that tonight and make progress.” Said Buescher

Buescher started the weekend off on high notes, finishing first in the first practice session and continued running strong by finished fifth in final practice. Buescher then qualified sixth and finished seventh under the lights in Kentucky. However, the 60 team struggled with handling throughout the race and dropped as low as 15th.

“Really proud of our 60 team for rallying back and getting a seventh place finish” said Buescher.

Once the green flag dropped Chris struggled with a “snappy loose” mustang, but as the light faded into darkness and the tracked cooled, Chris battled his way back up into the top 10. On the final restart Buescher lined up in eighth and charged forward after racing with Michael McDowell. On the final lap Buescher was racing door-to-door with the No. 33 of Cale Conley for sixth. As they crossed the start/finish line for the final time, the No.33 inched ahead and Buescher was scored in seventh.

Buescher remains seventh in the NNS points and this was Buescher’s 11th top ten of the season.

Buescher will return to the track at the Monster Mile on Saturday, September 27th.
