ADVANCE NOTES

Stenhouse at Darlington Raceway

Stenhouse Jr. has two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Darlington Raceway with an average starting position of 21.0 and average finishing position of 19.0.

The gold and blue paint scheme that will run on the No. 17 Roush Fenway entry this weekend is the scheme that Pearson drove to two Grand National Championships in 1968 and 1969 for Holman Moody.  Two of his 10 Darlington wins were also with the gold and blue Torino in 1968 & 1970. Pearson remains the winningest driver at Darlington with 10 trips to victory lane at the historic track.

Last time at Darlington

Fighting an ill-handling machine, Stenhouse Jr. fell back a few spots early on but steadily marched his way back up through the field. After being the lucky dog beneficiary on the first attempt of the green-white-checkered, the Roush Fenway Racing driver restarted in 21st position at the tail end of the lead lap.  Stenhouse picked up one additional position before the checkered flag waved settling for a 20th-place finish.

Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Darlington:

“After a weekend off, I’m ready for this weekend. Darlington is one of the old school tracks so it will be neat to see all the throwback paint schemes running under the lights. It’s a true honor to drive the David Pearson throwback scheme and hopefully we will have our Cargill Ford running up front like Pearson did. We are running the same aero package that we ran at Kentucky which I really liked. Darlington is a driver’s race track. I feel confident that we will have a solid run this weekend and make David Pearson and Holman Moody proud.”

Nick Sandler on racing at Darlington:

“We are really looking forward to Darlington this weekend. We are running the same package that we ran in Kentucky which we felt benefited our cars. This is a driver’s track which really fits Ricky’s driving style. We are running a special David Pearson scheme this weekend and hopefully we can do it justice.”
