Bojangles’ Southern 500 | September 6, 2015

Throwin’ It Back at Darlington…HScott Motorsports is participating in this weekend’s throwback theme at Darlington Raceway. Justin Allgaier’s No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture throwback Chevy for this weekend was inspired by the No. 51 Cup car driven by AJ Foyt between 1977 and 1982. Foyt has seven NASCAR victories, including the 1972 Daytona 500.  Allgaier has one NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at the “Too Tough To Tame” track. In 2014, he started 24th and finished 23rd after running in the top 20 and pitting under green for a loose wheel. Allgaier has five starts in the XFINITY Series at Darlington, with a best finish of fourth. Crew Chief Steve Addington has one win at the S.C. track, earned in May 2008.

See Justin…On Sunday, September 6 from 3:15 – 3:30 p.m. EDT, Allgaier will appear for a Q&A at the Team Chevy stage located in the Darlington fan midway.

Recapping the Off Week…Allgaier spent three days last week racing his UMP DIRT Modified car at Macon Speedway, Paducah International Raceway and BRANDT night at Farmer City Raceway. Allgaier was in Decatur, Ill. representing BRANDT Professional Agriculture at the Farm Progress Show this Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bristol II Recap…Allgaier returned to Bristol Motor Speedway for the second race at the short track this season. His visit in the spring resulted in his NSCS career-best finish of eighth. Allgaier advanced to the second round of qualifying and earned the 14th starting spot. During the 500-lap race, Allgaier battled back from a pit road speeding penalty and losing a lap to finish 12th in the BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevy for HScott Motorsports.

Justin Allgaier on Darlington Raceway:
“Darlington [Raceway] is a unique track. This weekend is going to be extra special since it’s Labor Day weekend and the track has put a lot of effort into the throwback theme. BRANDT was kind enough to work with us on a throwback paint scheme. It’s modeled after the No. 51 Cup car that AJ Foyt drove. AJ was someone that I admired growing up and still do to this day. We had some bad luck in this race last year with a loose wheel, but I know the guys at HScott Motorsports have prepared a great car. To win at Darlington would be very special. There’s so much history and nostalgia associated with the track.”

Crew Chief Steve Addington on Darlington Raceway:
“We’re running a different aero package, so that’ll change some thing for us compared to what we have done in the past. This is a track that Justin really likes and we were having a pretty good run last year, but just had some misfortune that set us back.”

About Competition Director and Crew Chief Steve Addington:
Spartanburg, S.C. native Steve Addington joined HScott Motorsports in January 2014 as competition director and crew chief for the No. 51 BRANDT Chevrolet SS. Steve comes to the team from Stewart-Haas Racing, where he spent the past two seasons as crew chief on the No. 14 team and earned four wins with Tony Stewart. Addington also served as a Sprint Cup Series crew chief at Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing, racking up a total of 20 wins in the series. Addington began his career working on dirt cars and is a former XFINITY Series crew chief. Addington resides in China Grove, N.C. with his wife Katie and has three children.
