Darlington Raceway Race Notes – May 9, 2016

Race Notes:

  • Kyle Busch won Saturday’s GoBowling 400 at Kansas Speedway.
  • It was Busch’s third win of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. He also won at Martinsville Speedway and Texas earlier this year.
  • It was Busch’s first NSCS win at Kansas Speedway. He has a Sprint Cup Series race at every track except Pocono Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
  • It was Busch’s ninth top-five finish this season, which is four better than his next closest competitors. Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards each have five top-five showings.
  • Martin Truex Jr. was the class of the field, having led 172 laps of 267 laps. He finished 14th after having an unscheduled pit stop on lap 215.
  • Harvick finished second at Kansas, followed by Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth and Ryan Blaney. It was Blaney’s first top-five finish of the season in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford.
  • William Byron won his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas on Friday.

TURN 3 THEATER AT DARLINGTON THIS FRIDAY: * See Update Below

Darlington Raceway’s next Turn 3 Theater Presented by Raceway Ford Chevrolet will feature Frozen this Friday, May 13. The event will be FREE and take place in the track’s hospitality village. Pace car rides for a $10 per person donation and concessions will be available with all proceeds benefiting the track’s 501(c)3 non-profit arm Darlington Shares. For the showing ofFrozen, the track is encouraging moviegoers to dress up as their favorite Frozen character. Prior to the start of the movie, the Darlington Raceway staff will select the best costume, with the winner receiving tickets to the Sept. 3 NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200.

 

*Update: – Turn 1 Theater Postponed  

DARLINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA (May 11, 2016) – Due to the potential threat of inclement weather, Turn 3 Theater Presented by Raceway Ford Chevrolet will be postponing Friday’s feature presentation of Frozen. The movie has been rescheduled for Friday, May 20 at 6 p.m.

TOUCH A TRUCK SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY: The Junior League of Florence will be hosting a Touch A Truck event at Darlington Raceway this Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. The event is $5 per person with children two and under free. It is the second year the event is being held at Darlington Raceway.

TICKETS ON SALE NOW: The Tradition Continues on Labor Day weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500® is set for Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016. The NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 will race on Saturday, Sept. 3.
