TEAM CHEVY DRIVER RACE NOTES & QUOTES

MARCH 18, 2012

KASEY KAHNE, NO. 5 FARMERS INSURANCE CHEVROLET – Sidelined in multi-car accident on Lap 23:

WHAT HAPPENED OUT THERE?

“I just had….my Farmer’s Insurance Chevrolet was the fasted car here. In the first run. We were going forward, just taking our time. Regan Smith was pretty slow. I was under him for a couple of laps. When my spotter cleared me in the center, I just took off, and he was there on exit. It is disappointing to have that good of a car and be out this early. Everybody at Hendrick Motorsports is doing such an awesome job. I’ve had awesome race cars, and I have nothing to show for it.”

DID YOU THINK YOU WERE ALL SET CLEAR? “I know what I had. I feel horrible for Farmers Insurance, for Chevrolet, for Quaker State and everybody at Hendrick Motorsports. This is the worst way I could start a season. To have the fastest car every single week and something happens. Right there, there is no reason to force the issue at all. I’m just taking my time just cutting the bottom. Simple. I’m under Regan Smith as slow as he was I knew when my spotter cleared me in the center I would be clear on exit. He said ‘all clear good to go’. So when I get to the exit I knew Regan (Smith) was slow and then he was back there. I listened too much to my spotter I guess. I hate it for everybody it’s really disappointing and discouraging to have as fast of race cars as I have and not have nothing to show for.”
