Kenseth Completes Roush Yates Sweep at Kansas

Mooresville, NC (October 22, 2012) Matt Kenseth finished first in a wild race at the repaved Kansas Speedway on Sunday to complete a weekend sweep for Roush Yates engines with winners in the ARCA Series on Friday, NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday, and Sprint Cup Series on Sunday.

Kenseth took the checkered flag at Kansas Speedway to earn his second win in just three races and the 24th of his career. In what turned out to be a track-record of 14 cautions, Kenseth and the No. 17 team avoided wrecks and came back from a mid-race incident with the wall to take the win.

“It was an up and down day and our Zest Ford Fusion was pretty darn good. It was really fast today,” said Kenseth in Victory Lane. “There was no grip on the bottom when you didn’t have air on the car. If we were in single file, the bottom was the better place to be but to get rolling I wanted the outside and we had so much Roush Yates FR9 horsepower I could get going through the gears and clear them.”

Kenseth’s win moves him to ninth in the standings with four races remaining in the race for the Championship.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. rallied from two laps down to win the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday. Stenhouse’s win was a long shot after slamming into the No. 18 of Joey Logano just after the halfway point, but a green-white-checkered finish gave him the opportunity to surge past Kyle Busch for the victory.

“The guys did an awesome job getting the car back together, and we never gave up,” said Stenhouse. “Mike Kelley made great calls and adjustments to fix how the car drove with the damage, and it was still one of the fastest cars out there.”

Stenhouse’s sixth win of the season moves him to within six points of championship leader Elliott Sadler.

Chris Buescher finished eighth in the ARCA Racing Series finale on Friday night at Kansas Speedway to clinch the season title. Buescher edged Frank Kimmel by 75 points and had four victories on the season with his No. 17 Ford owned by Roulo Brothers Racing.

“This is definitely exciting,” said Buescher. “It’s going to take a little while for this one to sink in. Hats off to the Roulo Brothers, Roush Fenway, and Roush Yates engines for all their help this season.”

Perhaps one of the most impressive stats about Buescher’s season is that he is the only driver to run every single lap in the ARCA Racing Series’ 60 year history.

Roush Yates engines will be back on the track next weekend at Martinsville Speedway. To learn more about Roush Yates power, please call 1-877-798-RYPP or visit www.roushyates.com.
