Kentucky Recap…With only one race under his belt since returning from an acute renal failure diagnosis after Watkins Glen in August, Eric McClure posted a 24th-place finish at Kentucky Speedway after battling handling issues most of the night. With this finish, both he and his team were able to maintain their respective spots in the NASCAR point standings.
Dover Fast Facts; Lucky No. 13…This weekend’s 5-Hour Energy 200 will mark McClure’s 223rd NASCAR Nationwide Series start and his 13th at the track known as the “Monster Mile.” In 12 starts, the Virginia native has completed 95.8% of the total laps attempted (2,421) and has an average finish of 25.2. McClure’s best finish of 23rd came in 2009 when driving for Rensi-Hamilton Racing. Earlier this season, McClure posted a 24th-place finish after starting 32nd at the one-mile concrete track.
Four Members from the United States Air Force to Serve as Honorary Crew Members…The No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds® race team is excited to host A1C Michael Picard, A1C Zachary Flovin, A1C Sean McGillicuddy, and AMN Michael Laity for this weekend’s race at Dover Int’l Speedway. These four airmen are fairly new to the United States Air Force with the earliest training beginning in July 2011. Neither of these U. S. Airmen have been deployed yet, as their training is the most important at this moment, but we are honored they have chosen to fight for our freedoms in the United States.
Chassis No. 7… The 34-year-old driver will pilot chassis No. 7 in this weekend’s 5-Hour Energy 200 at Dover Int’l Speedway. This chassis was last run by TriStar Motorsports teammate Jeff Green, who was filling-in for the ailing McClure, at Bristol Motor Speedway; the team was credited with a 16th-place finish.
Personal Appearance… Prior to Saturday’s racing activities, McClure will be making a personal appearance at the ACME Booth in the Fan Zone at Dover Int’l Speedway from 10:00am – 10:30am (ET). Be sure to stop by and get your autograph and wish the driver good luck as he tries to beat the “Monster.”
Tune-In: Saturday’s race from Dover Int’l Speedway will be televised live on ESPN 2 beginning at 3:30 p.m. (ET). MRN (Motor Racing Network) and SiriusXM Radio Channel 90 will also broadcast the event live on Saturday, September 28.
